My mother's very best friend, who she's known since they were in 1st grade, just decided not to seek treatment for an aggressive cancer that showed up without warning. They're both 84 years old, and I know Mom would do the same, and it's so sobering.

When people in our lives are looking for work, I think saying, "Let me know if I can help," generally means, "If there's an existing position that I can be a reference for at my workplace, let me know," but it's truly humbling to have someone literally make a job I could do.
I've been living off my savings/the severance and stock options I got from my old job, and I'm not in trouble financially, but I was going to hit the last "comfortable" bit I had, so I'm very glad that I have someone who went out on a limb to help me.
The past week and a half, I've been doing temp work for a friend who basically created a role for me in her company (it's necessary, but also wasn't really priority until I asked for help finding a job). I just sent in my first invoice, and it's SO GREAT to see that money will come in again!

I made a little family of "trash bunnies" to bring with me to the couple of flea markets I have before Easter. I was originally going to use the bottle and such as a "skeleton" of sort underneath some sculpting clay, but I like them much better made entirely out of trash.
