I saw a post in the wild about going back to the times when we didn't have violent political agreements with each other and I am wondering when that was?

I think it's more British ones would be called Monarch Serials or Royal :)
They were American :) - Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, King of the Rocket Men... there's loads of them - they usually ran 30 episodes and were shown to kids at Saturday morning movies as a pre-feature.

UK summer hols TV was a little odd - they showed the 30s republic serials in Black&White which amused my mum because she'd watched them on Saturday mornings at the movies as a little kid pre-WW2. She thought it funny I was watching them. I suspect you couldn't show a modern audience those things :)
Comments limited there. My maternal grandfather was a truck driver in the 20s, my paternal grandfather one in a long line of dairy farmers in very rural Ireland. Nobody of my generation works in farming or manual work.
My wife lived in a country where they didn't get TV until '76 - she finds my childhood kid's TV nostalgia weird because she grew up without it.

My granddad, born '05 loved the 60s and 70s - especially colour TVs.
My grandfather was a truck driver 90 years ago, no syncromesh on the gearbox, no power steering, no automation for loading and unloading the crates and barrels. He was up around 3:30am to start the warm up & load process and often didn't get home until 7/8pm and he thought that beat farming...

I do think my father would have been shocked to see the Limerick of 2019 (last time I was there) compared to when he was at school there in the 30s.
The Ireland I'd spend time in as a kid, especially where my family are from is a lot more like The Quiet Man than it was by the 90s and certainly is now. But that was 50 years ago and the film was only set 50 years before that and that part of the Limerick/Tipp border moved at a different rate...
