Yes. I don't see her as playing the doting mom. To my ears her questions seemed like concern giving space for Ruari to talk and reassurance that she would listen. She did get to the point – a good thing in hard conversations. Also it's drama and episodes are short so dialogue cuts to the chase

Speaking as a former sub, I've got to say anyone I've ever worked with would have queried this story and its oddities. Including that the family had managed to find a gardener who only charged a tenner a visit. Ages of fabricated people, time spent in NYC and other inconsistencies screamed fake news

It is. His prison sentence was suspended. He had a 60 day curfew and has to take an extended test. Other than that, he has to pay a victim surcharge (the amount isn't specified) whatever that is. It doesn't bring the poor victim back to life. It doesn't seem much considering he killed someone.
