I'd buy that for a dollar!
...and I did!
Great rendition with that strange waaaaay downtuned four string guitar.
Home and car unpacked, thanks to helpful children.
Return trip:
- Time: 14hrs exactly
- Miles: 831
- Stops: 6
Total trip:
- Miles: 1906
- Burritos: 4.5
- Appendectomy incisions with glue still on them: 1/3
We don't have one near us, so I don't have a go-to anymore, but it used to be the California club.
The rare occurrence of a Saturday night drive through Tacoma being decidedly unTacomaesque, due to the police cruiser pacing everyone, keeping the asshattery at bay.
Shockingly, pumped my own gas in Albany, and hit the elusive Carl's Jr for dinner. Wet going but uneventful!
Both northern California I-5 rest stops on this trip: Dirty, broken stuff, missing vital components.
Both Oregon I-5 rest stops: Properly appointed and not trashed.
This has been Rest Stop Roundup.
Refilling everything in Redding, we'll see what the mountains hold.
Burrito count: 4.5
Traditional first stop: Jamba Juice in San Bruno. Onwards!
Return journey: commence!
Time: 9:36am
Trip mileage so far: 1075mi
Burrito count: 3.5 (the half because we got fajitas and enchiladas the other day -- burrito adjacent)
Southbound journey complete! 838 miles, 19:09 total time, including a 2.5 hour nap, 1 flipped car seen on the freeway.
Nap was successful, quick jaunt down to Dunnigan for final fuel up of gas plus sugar via Cinnabon.
Pushed through to the rest stop near Red Bluff, time for a little nap before heading into civilization.
Gassed up in Yreka and attained some semblance of cookies and milk as that hour approacheth.
At my traditional vista point for the introspective Carl Sagan portion of the journey.
youtu.be/zSgiXGELjbc?...
Made it all the way through Oregon without getting gas or interacting with anybody, so, uh, take that, I guess?
Been raining pretty good for the past hour and a half or so. This Subaru Ascent is an absolute beast through it all though, even compared to our old Forester. More than halfway through Oregon now, we'll see where the next stop lines up!
Driving through Portland always feels like some sort of unplanned Factorio belt spaghetti.
First stop in Vancouver for half a tank of gas (as to only require one fuel stop in Oregon) and Del Taco, where the sauce packets were all meticulously stacked.
Burrito count: 1
Covered 57 miles over the second hour, trending in the right direction! Should be smooth sailing after the ridiculousness that was Tacoma. First stop should be in Vancouver, WA, as is tradition.
First hour down, a whopping 29 miles traveled. On I-5 now at least, and it remains dry. Been bouncing around SiriusXM channels, already attained Sandstorm.
Starting stats:
33,896 miles on the odometer
1 pillow across my abdomen holding everything in
0 burritos consumed
4:40pm departure time
Alright, let's break this in with the annual California road trip! Added some challenge this year with a fresh appendectomy, so I'm not allowed to lift anything, but the family came through with superb car packing! First long trip in the Ascent as well!
