Right?! I think that’s why I’m leaning towards staying in my school-based BCBA role for at least another year. It’s hard to lose that stability now when I don’t know what the next 4 years looks like.

I can’t recommend this book enough. It’s a collection of short stories, essays, and photographs speaking to the very point made below.

Yes to what @acrobers.bsky.social said! Consistency, predictability, and structure. Modeling calm and kind interactions, meet basic needs first, lots of visuals. And making sure there’s time for play :) love this question, going to look more into the research base!

Fast forward a few minutes later, lining up for recess and a student comes up to me and says “what does *student* want to be when they grow up?” 🥹
I said “idk bud why don’t you ask her!” And it was THAT EASY
A few days ago I was with a student a who was having a tough time in the back of the room. Peers remained on the carpet for whole group and they went around saying what they wanted to be when they grow up.

Kids are better at inclusion than adults are. I said what I said 🫢
