Why is China set to approve a new law promoting 'ethnic unity'? A law that could threaten the rights of minority groups is a sign of the direction Xi is taking China.

A reminder to anyone who was arrested during the anti-government protests but never charged; if you relocate from Hong Kong it’s probably not a good idea to come back

The 2026 #IWD motto was "give to gain".

Minnie Chan is a Hong Kong-based reporter for SCMP who attended a conference in Beijing in November, 2023 and has not been seen or heard from since.

Perhaps if #journalists give attention to Minnie Chan her family might gain her return.

Hope persists.

Hong Kong needs to urgently address its mental health concerns – and there are strong economic reasons for doing so. The World Health Organization found that every US$1 invested in scaled-up treatment for depression and anxiety yields roughly US$4 in improved health and productivity.
