LOADED WEAPON 1
MAGNOLIA
If I made lists any longer PLAY DIRTY would've been on mine which judging by my current perfectly judged 'last 4 watched' on letterboxd makes PLAY DIRTY a must-watch
Finally PLAY DIRTY makes a list bsky.app/profile/mayb...
Point Blank (1967) Director John Boorman
are you living my 2023?
Of all the details NATIONAL LAMPOON'S LOADED WEAPON 1 gets right, Emilio Estevez driving Nick Nolte's 'piece of shit, sky-blue Cadillac convertable' from the 48 HRS. flicks is one of my favorites
I love how well-attended the movie appears to be too
of course milage varies, but I love Walter Hill's (and Peter Hyams', and Richard Donner's) approach to the buddy crime flicks trusting the characters/performers to be funny while not skimping on the R-rated violence... Are they action movies? Yeah. Are they funny? Yeah but I think they're action 1st
Anyway... kinda wanna track it down now
Incredible moment

So many great visual touches including bikers bursting through a movie screen between a woman's breasts.
Today I looked for the movie they interrupted and the title is...
LOS PLOMEROS Y LAS FICHERAS
Once again watching Walter Hill movies and needing to point out how underrated ANOTHER 48 HRS. is.
Cue Leonard Cohen in my head for the foreseeable future. Everybody knows what I mean
Such a joy interviewing the Coens again for the new Criterion 4K of THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE, a deeply underrated noir gem.

Started off fun
only in quicksand
for the first 40 minutes or so while Bill Murray was bumbling around Afghanistan being a loser bumping up against other American dipshit ex-pats I was really enjoying ROCK THE KASBAH, but man, did they burn through the good-will in the back half. Enjoyed Deschanel, Willis, McBride, Caan and Hudson
ah yes... unfortunately for a technophobe like me the post office is still the more attractive option
takes me about a week to mail something.
at least a day to stare at the object/letter to be mailed
at least a day to find an envelope
at least a day to find the address
at least 2 days to find the post office
