During the liberation of Dachau and Buchenwald in 1945, many of the camp guards tried to escape by disguising themselves as prisoners or civilians. Newly liberated prisoners recognized several guards immediately, and you can imagine how that ended for them.

As of tonight, licenses of trans people across Kansas are being invalidated en masse, enabling the overnight criminalization of an entire group of people for going about our lives. It’s often said you never know when you’re living through history, so let me assure you: that’s what’s happening now.

There’s a vote in DC tomorrow that would give DHS $11 billion more in funding. Schumer and Jeffries have already walked back any “demands” they had for DHS.

I, for one, do not think this timing is just a coincidence. Turn down the temp for the vote. Turn it right back up when the bag is secured.

Maybe out of town and corporate media people should just listen to the locals who say this occupation crisis is not over instead of basing their assessments on press releases and perceived vibes in the area. Cuz no local would say the emergency is shrinking.

We will not elect any Democrat who does not push to abolish ICE

That's the platform. That's the whole fucking thing.

If you can't do this, you can't govern in these times. Period.

Voting NO on the DHS funding bill is the bare minimum.

Backing Kristi Noem’s impeachment is the bare minimum.

Holding law-breaking ICE agents legally accountable is the bare minimum.

ICE is beyond reform. Abolish it.

Unfollowed someone who was going on about how white people need to start shooting back, because that kind of fed posting is either extremely dumb to put online to the point that they're a hazard to other people, or it's an actual fed trying to bait people into posting something they can prosecute.

STAYING WARM IN SUB-ZERO WEATHER
Tips from folks who spend a TON of time outside

Wear Layers
Fleece and wool are the best, but big sweatshirts work great too! Aim for at least 3-4 upper layers and 2-3 lower layers.

Cover Your Face
A buff or a scarf are great to keep the wind off your face.
For extra protection, add a layer of petroleum jelly to any exposed skin

Bring Back Up Layers
Wet or sweaty layers will not keep you warm. Extra socks and extra mittens are great!

Leave Room For Movement
We love layering socks! But too many socks can restrict blood flow! Make sure your feet can more around.

Think about the "in's" & "outs'"
Holding your pee creates a
"thermal burden" for your body. Go to the bathroom before you leave! Also, bring some sugary snacks for some quick energy

MOVE
Jumping jacks, run in place, do a dance. Keeping your body moving is the best way to stay warm.

Put hand and foot warmers on top of your hands/feet. That's where the most blood flows.
Mittens are much better than gloves, keep those fingers together!

If every Democrat voted NO on funding ICE, it would not have passed the House. But, 7 House Democrats voted to fund Trump's lawless, masked goons, so it passed.

Hakeem Jeffries refused to whip his members to vote against ICE funding. Genuinely unforgivable.

Victor Manuel Diaz was kidnapped from Minneapolis. He was my neighbor and he died in an American concentration camp. He was not "illegal," he was a human being made in the image of the divine. May his memory be a blessing, and may the rest of us fight like hell until we stop this brutality.

Another thing you should know about the Twin Cities, if you're not here, is that while the mayor and governor tell us to stay calm on TV, our council members and other local electeds are on the street patrolling and protecting neighbors, doing mutual aid, and otherwise serving the community.
