Board of Peace - Season 1
Board of Peace - Season 1
Games I made #3 - Merry Clickmas. Somewhere between a clicker and idle game. Seasonal, fun, kinda short for a clicker / incremental but it's free.

Annoyed there's been no real progress at #COP30. This is a critical time, we should not be wasting opportunities like this and bickering over the same topics as 20 years ago.
Yeah, well, if they want to tell me about it I'm listening.
It doesn't help that the games industry panders to these misunderstandings by presenting things as fair chance and then fudging to avoid bad feels.
What is the better justification? Without having followed this story too closely, the answer appears to be "because the government doesn't understand the difference between anti-war and anti-Jew".
The Chilling Effect just effected me. :(
Does anyone have an intuition what effect this might have (if it happens) on the games EA produces, on gamers, and on developers who work for EA?
Games I made #2 - The Trouble With Robots. Real time customisable card / deck building game. Not free but there's a fairly generous demo.

Games I made #1 - A Quest Too Far. Free roguelike I made in 7 days, and was very pleased with. Play as a veteran hero who's back is giving out!

Exactly. It's very easy to manipulate or mislead the current generation of AI.
I can't read the article. What makes them think AI decisions will be free from corruption?
Not weird. We didn't have any consoles growing up, we were a PC household. My best friend had a BBC Micro. Sister got a Game Boy. My cousin had just about everything I knew of at the time (including SNES, Megadrive, later a Playstation) so we did get to try them occasionally.
I put my deck building game from 2012 on #itchio - The Trouble With Robots is available again for Windows, just $4 this time, free demo: geoffw0.itch.io/ttwr . It never sold very well (outside of bundles) but some people really liked it!
While I'm on a philosophical topic, I really want to mention The Precipice (www.goodreads.com/book/show/50...) - written by philosopher and old friend Toby Ord. Despite the subject and my status as a climate doomer when I read it, it left me feeling positive. We can survive the next 100 years.
Maybe LLMs are about as conscious as an ant?
They were discussing whether LLMs are conscious on the radio this morning. I have some thoughts:
โข beware of working back from the result you want.
โข it's probably a scale, not a yes/no thing.
โข that they are "made of silicon" or are "just algorithms" is not a good justification for anything.
Why are the big LLMs so sycophantic? Apparently they're prompted *not* to be, and I find it hard to believe the training data (e.g. books and internet content) is full of people constantly being overly nice to each other. So where does it come from?

UFO 50 - Overbold has a very addictive loop (in a good way - we're talking old fashioned fun gameplay not microtransactions, loot boxes, login rewards etc). Really makes you push your luck to get more upgrades!
Dicey Dungeons was lots of fun. Most of my gaming time is still going into UFO-50 though.
More UFO 50 play - today I cherried Pingolf! :)
Dr. Anthony Fauci urges Americans not to accept "Normalization of Untruths".
Last night I was asked to reshare a talk I did back in 2017, which didn't get filmed the many times I gave it.
Let's do it as a thread. I've not done an informational thread on here before, interested to see how folks like it.
(forgive obvious stuff, it was ever so slightly fresher 8 years ago)

Sadly knowing your rights won't necessarily protect you if the rule of law is compromised. Still worth knowing them.
Mine was "that'll save some carbon", though I admit this is not really a rational thought (small benefit compared to the chaos).
Waldorf's Journey is pure UFO-50 weirdness. Love it!
