Where I’m from in the Midwest we call it the Bible Belt and the heartland. I know the southern states are called the Sun belt? I guess there is overlap :)

So Alabama is not part of the east coast or the Bible Belt which are the areas I said. It is also a notoriously poor state so that explains the lack of proper education funding not because you’re black. Knowledge is power.

What about Austin? I know a couple people of the AA persuasion living in Austin doing forex and music production and live very well. One of my profs at college doing software was a talented programmer and an AA man. Maybe you just don’t run in academic circles and have a limited perspective.
