I just vomited in my mouth a bit at the description of the BWs drink. Eww.
Merlin Bird app screenshot listing Northern Cardinal, Carolina Wren, House Finch, American Robin, and House Sparrow
Today's #TenMinMerlin was later than the others! The birds were loud but there wasn't the variety of the other days. I'm laughing at the pic & caption of the Carolina Wren, because they had taken over my mailbox w a nest, so apparently they thought that was a bird box I left for them π

OMG I just love horses so so much.
No. Is that PD particularly relevant for your content area or is it just seat time?
Screenshot from Merlin app showing American Robin, Northern Cardinal, Mourning Dove, Dark-eyed Junco, House Finch and American Crow
Today's #TenMinMerlin was not as interesting as I'd hoped. I could hear birds that weren't being picked up by my mic, for whatever reason. Given what I know about my neighborhood, there could have possibly been wrens, jays or chickadees.
Lucky!!! Glad they sold it out. It's such a soulless barn when it's half full.
That was the best!!
"War is mankind's most tragic and stupid folly; to seek or advise its deliberate provocation is a black crime against all men. Though you follow the trade of the warrior, you do so in the spirit of Washington -- not of Genghis Khan. For Americans, only threat to our way of life justifies resort to conflict." Graduation Exercises at the United States Military Academy, 6/3/47 "Possibly my hatred of war blinds me so that I cannot comprehend the arguments they adduce. But, in my opinion, there is no such thing as a preventive war. Although this suggestion is repeatedly made, none has yet explained how war prevents war. Worse than this, no one has been able to explain away the fact that war creates the conditions that beget war." Remarks at Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 10/19/50 [DDE's Pre-Presidential Papers, Principal File, Box
Was browsing the Eisenhower Library site this morning trying to find a quote I remembered.
President Eisenhower, WW2 military hero:
βIn my opinion, there is no such thing as a preventive warβ¦ none has yet explained how war prevents war.β
Hey now...
Oil up by $12 a barrel in less than 12 hours.
Gas prices skyrocketing.
Almost 100,000 jobs lost last month.
Another war in the Middle East.
Are we great again yet?
Apparently Bexley has a well documented albino squirrel population. And recently an albino skunk was spotted out and about. Just had dinner with a friend who lives there and was regaling me with all the wildlife reports on Bexley Facebook π

List of birds captured by the Merlin app, including House Finch, Northern Cardinal, Killdeer, House Sparrow, American Robin and a Mourning Dove.
Today's #TenMinMerlin wasn't as interesting as yesterday's. Anyway, here are my captures today. I didn't actually hear my dove friend but I know they lurk around the more sheltered back yards here, the mic must have picked it up.
During my 7 year stint at The Ohio State University, there was a woman in payroll (I think) who made it an Arthurian quest to get paid as an RA. I suppose she was generally miserable and this was her only way of flexing power.
If 270 was a clock, I'm at the 12, if that location helps you. So maybe try the northern end of the Olentangy trail with your pup some time or Highbanks! I'm not far from the trail.
Interesting! So it's definitely possible it was a Black-capped or a hybrid! Thank you!!
Israeli map showing all of southern Lebanon in red with yellow arrows pointing to north of the Litani river
The IDF just ordered the *entirety of south Lebanon* to be forcibly displaced.
They are emptying the land of its population, creating a massive crisis, and will now proceed to further annihilate large parts of Lebanon.
The very nation state of Lebanon is being destroyed.
On France24 Le DΓ©bat earlier today, Prof Karim Emile Bitar called this notion of Β«defensive attackΒ» as the equivalent of a man afraid of death preemptively committing suicide.
It looks like that Black-capped Chickadee is considered unlikely, because it would be only coming through here during migration. I've never captured it here before, not familiar w when specifically it would be moving through on the way to Canada. All the others were Β«usual suspectsΒ». 3/3
Prof Winnicki sets the phone on the windowsill for 10 minutes, I decided I'm going to walk my Central Ohio neighborhood (which is a National Wildlife FΓ©dΓ©ration Certified Wildlife Habitat) for 10 minutes. Here's what I "caught" today. 2/
Thanks to ornithologist @skwinnicki.bsky.social for sharing the #TenMinMerlin project! I already use this great FREE app from Cornell Ornithology because 1)birds and 2)my kid and my money go to Cornell so I feel extra inspired to take advantage of this fab app their Ornithology lab created. 1/
For my francophone followers, France24 streaming right now "Le DΓ©bat" has a group of experts with incredibly sharp and informed commentary on the war begun by Israel and USA. I'm especially appreciating this Lebanese professor and his commentary.

It's so embarrassing. Please remember that many of us are appalled and disgusted.
This whole is full of whimsy and joy.
Also, if you don't mind, where do you buy them? I know my high school students would love them.
This is wonderful and whimsical and I'm sure brings a smile to students who are otherwise stressed! I would love it if someone was doing this in my son's uni.
It's all just too much.
