Australian Linguistic Society Logo Call for nominations: 2024 Talkley Award The Talkley Award is presented each year to a particular piece or collection of linguistics communication produced by current ALS members (individuals or groups). The Award acknowledges that the discipline of linguistics needs champions to explain its relevance to Australia at large. The winning piece of lingcomm could be a video series, a conversation article, a media interview, a public lecture, a series of meme posts, etc. that has promoted linguistics in the public sphere or explained how linguistic evidence can be used to solve real-life language problems. Please email your nominations (with a sentence or two explaining why the nominated piece should win this year's Talkley) to the ALS postgraduate representative Kate Charlwood (katejc@student.unimelb.edu.au) and cc the president Bill Palmer (bill.palmer@newcastle.edu.au). Deadline is 1 November 2024.
