We can buy 2 different screw sizes and 2 different bayonet
Thanks. That's exactly what I needed. I'd seen the table before but for some reason couldn't find it
Do we actually need more dentists? Or do we just need the existing ones to be a bit less greedy?
Anyway. I've tracked down the right bulb so I don't have to go & buy either bulbs or lamps at the moment
As an aside, when did "bedside lamps" stop being a category?
I periodically try & fail to buy new bedside lamps. These are old & a bit shabby and have bayonet fittings which I dislike but finding replacements I like has proven to be near impossible
Currently all the shades look like this. I don't like them
I got the wrong ones from Home Bargains recently, realised my mistake quickly & swapped them. The young man on the till didn't even realise that there were different types of fittings
And then I have to make sure I get the right fitting
I bet every house in the country has a box full of bulbs that are no use because they are the wrong brightness or fitting. Partly because you don't realise you've bought the right one until a bulb actually needs replacing
The bulb in my bedside lamp went last night. It's very low wattage, used to be maybe 25W
I've just spent 10 minutes trying & failing to find a simple chart showing wattage of fluorescent vs LED bulbs
You'd think it was simple
Someone on LBC just described Trump's press conference as a "Masterclass in evasion, contradiction and making it up on the fly" Surely if it was a masterclass it should have been in some way convincing rather than obvious rubbish?
Right. I'm unfollowing the Observer. I'm sick of that ridiculous AI image they keep posting to advertise their article which I can't access anyway
I suppose I'm only following because they were part of the Guardian & had good education stuff
And who is reporting this to the police? If I were them I'd be seeking out the "snitch"
In order to delay getting moving earlier I tried & failed to find something to watch or listen to that wasn't almost instantly vacuous and or irritating.
Have all these programmes deteriorated or is it just me getting grumpy & out of touch?
I was just thinking of that. I have one I don't really use any more
I'm really fed up of being expected to sign in to every newspaper, blog, review site, hotel chain etc. I don't want to give my email to all & sundry. I hate reading emails & sorting what is actually important or useful from the dross
It's actually kind of sunny here
Good morning Bluesky
The differences of opinion on this are interesting. People seem to feel very strongly about it but very little justification for their belief expressed
And my parents lived with my maternal grandma in her council house until I was 3/4.
I think it all depends on where you lived. We had much less to pay for. No car, heating was 2 coal fires & my grandma was a pit widow so free coal, no electrical stuff (fridge etc) no phone, simple washing machine, gas ring (had coal oven next to fire)
It happened here. My mum worked until my younger brother was born but not after that. I don't remember my grandmothers working and they have been in their early 50s when I was born. But my grandads & my dad all did shift work with long hard shifts so mothers probably needed at home for childcare
My godโฆ
It is.
Well that little trip to town tired me out. Too much trekking around to find one specific item (succeeded fortunately)
My feeble efforts to make conversation were rebuffed
I tend to chat with strangers at every opportunity just now as I've nobody to talk to at home during day
Rather grumpy cashier who said she should charge me as I wasn't one of their customers. I pointed out that the letter specifically said Nat West would not charge & she sniffed at me. I suggested she take it up with the DWP & she muttered about it being above her pay grade.
Breakfast in M&S cafe achieved. On with shopping
This is obvious. The Israelis not only value Israeli lives well above other li es they value Israeli *bodies* over the lives of others. It's warped & racist
I know. I was going to do it online but given recent, mixed, experience I thought in person might be s good idea. My bank doesn't have a branch but the DWP apparently have some kind of deal with Nat West & we have one of those. Several have gone though
