I hope they succeed in funding this, because if they do, I'll definitely get a subscription

Can anybody recommend a reasonably priced, very sturdy DVD shelf unit? All the ones I've ever used have been really flimsy.

I made sure to write the above post in my "Italian guy in an old Hollywood movie" accent

I have been informed that there are five novels about the character of Creasy. I'm off to commit Seppuku.

I gotta turn off Google AI because whenever I am writing an email it keeps suggesting that I rewrite a sentence to make it more boring

The Singularity is upon us: Apple's AI summarized a text message that read "I'm still down to clown if you are" to.... "clown event still possible."

I can't help feeling like "same plot is the movie, but five times as long" is not a sustainable

Man on Fire is a Netflix series now? Are they gonna stretch the story of the movie(s) over 7 episodes? Or maybe in every episode he gets a mission that will redeem his sins and he accomplishes it & dies melodramatically. Then he wakes up to the sound of Sonny and Cher playing on his clock radio...

In film school, our modern screenwriting professor started with Bonnie & Clyde and then branched out with each lesson either coming from a Benton or Towne screenplay. Honestly one of the coolest structures to a class I’ve ever had.

Why do all the cosplay populist MAGA choads stand like they're about to squeeze out a Baby Ruth

Was just browsing & this caught my eye in Matt’s bookstore. Excited to read anything about the Alien franchise, especially that this second edition covers Romulus as well. Can’t wait to get it!

Boosting. Such a great indie bookstore. Just picked up a biography of Mike Nichols. And I’ve got my eye on a certain signed copy of another book πŸ‘€

A Beautiful Day for a Neighbor: Tom Noonan (1951-2026) A personal tribute to a great actor, a great friend, and a gentle giant of a man.

"He was mesmerizing: six feet, six inches of pale, balding, spindly-limbed magnificence, hands moving as if he were plucking words from the air like his Heat character did with data. Sometimes he’d have a big beard that sat on his chest like a new species of pet." www.rogerebert.com/mzs/a-beauti...

A Beautiful Day for a Neighbor: Tom Noonan (1951-2026) A personal tribute to a great actor, a great friend, and a gentle giant of a man.

"I looked up, and up, and up, and up, until I saw Tom Noonan's face, looking down at me with a curious expression. 'What did you say your name was?' he asked." A remembrance of my friend Tom, lost too soon. www.rogerebert.com/mzs/a-beauti...

I thought it was good. Too long, in large part because they kept doing lots of callbacks that tried to forcibly tie all the films together when I don't believe they were intended to be packaged that way. But once they got past that and into the action sequences, it was brilliant as always.

He's only five years older than Liam Neeson, plus, it's a fantasy, so I think it'll be OK

Generally not a fan of endless sequels and reboots, but this is an adaptation of an existing anthology, and the lead actor is age-appropriate and then some

Also: Christopher McQuarrie does not make bad movies
