I wanted to do a completely black diorama for quite a while. The base plate is made of paper mache with stones on top of it. I painted everything with black acrylic color. The people were colored with Musou Black. The tuft is regular black tuft.

Some time ago, I borrowed these bay boletes for a shroomy photoshoot. This dude is called tornado, since it has this “twister” within its head. It is a 3D print with 15cm in size.

I figured out that the plant needs a head finally, it was in my wintergarden for too long. Now, it fits well and looks fresh and juicy. It’s a crinkle leaf or Adromischus Cristatus

Many heads are rather empty already, but this one has the most headspace. Due to the supports (27,1%) it took me about an hour to clean this fella of all his supports. It’s quite fragile so you break things easily.

I think the roots of the crassula ovata are finally connected with the lower part of the pot. There are already some saplings, too. I matched pot and head with the same colors which fits nicely, I think.

Here you go with some pics of the monster. The face is painted in black while I only applied gold leaf on the inner part of the structure. It offers a lot of "insight" with the neverending blackness.

After a few days some parts are still not dry

People say preparation is everything and I couldn’t agree more. About 1,5l of glue + 4 rolls of toilet paper "preripped" :-D With flash this head even looks a bit as if it has a snake or reptile skin. Meanwhile most of it dried.

I used 13 plates (one for bolts) and it took me about 10h to come up with a solid concept to cut it. I worked on the file for about 5 days until it made sense. The print took about 2 weeks with a total printing time of 4 days
