THE PROMISED STORM (2017)
As the promised storm
sneaks quietly into the yard
the wind picks up speed –
rain pounces onto the porch,
shaking like a wet dog -
the air in the house,
and everything it touches,
grows cold and inhospitable
as I realize that even the
weatherman can be right –
I don’t think he even has any idea what the people he puts in these jobs are supposed to do. It’s just political payoffs. At least we didn’t get Betsy DeVos back. At least not yet.
Got a copy of this anthology "Ain't no Dead Beats Around Here" in the mail today! Much thanks to editor Fin Hall for including my poem about Allen Ginsberg among such a wealth of international talent!
