Hospice is no fun ya’ll.
There are lower estimates and higher estimates depending on the source of funding, status… ext. but this is as good as I could find for ‘taxpayer dollars spent’ in 2024. Take my math as an approximation or starting point, not as definitive.
For context:
According to the Office of the Inspector General Report released February 11th:
The average taxpayer spent just under $79 on aid to Ukraine last year. Nearly two thirds went into our own economy.
The average US taxpayer spent just over $2405 on the department of defense as a whole.
The thank you bullshit was a tricky bit of red meat for us to get worked up about refuting, so we’d forget to point out that this whole partnership is in our own selfish interest.
This is an opportunity to stop Russian aggression without putting a single American soldier at risk. If the current admin’s capitulation happened, we won’t have that luxury on the next battlefront.
Guys please don’t take the ‘thank you’ bait. It’s not about the thank you. America’s foreign policy is not about being generous.
Support for Ukrainian freedom is an investment in our own security. Ensuring a free and lasting peace here, protects us.
It is a matter of months before they begin finding American made equipment in cleared out Russian positions. And there will not be domestic consequences when we do.
Thank you!
