I've spent my life in the southern USA, but my people aren't from around here. Older than the Pope.

I don’t think people who aren’t regularly covering the reproductive rights beat realize how common it is for women to be incarcerated for miscarriages.

Yeah, that's actually a point that Talarico makes on the regular.

He says that Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Judaism are β€œcircling the same truth about the universe, about the cosmos. And that truth is inherently a mystery.” That's something Christian nationalists particularly loathe him for.

Baptist News Global Stay informed with Baptist News Global, offering insights and stories on faith, culture, and justice from a progressive Christian perspective.

Ouch, but there's some white nonsense embedded in that view. Talarico is one of the few progressive Christians getting widespread coverage. baptistnews.com sojo.net

MAGA Christians Are Absolutely Terrified Of James Talarico. They Should Be. Time to flip some tables.

ICYMI: Evan Hurst has the cultural literacy to explain what's big about this. evanhurst.substack.com/p/maga-chris...

"Ten pounds of sugar in a five-pound sack" was how the old guys in Nebraska used to describe a well-rounded woman.

Not a criticism - an appreciation of ample generosity, artfully arranged.

A startled mover once said to me, "Lady, you got more books than God."

Never thought about using xActo knives with a woven fabric. But I guess if they had the fusible attached, they'd be stiff enough to be done that way. Cool technique!

SO COOL. Not matchy-matchy but clearly a unified set.

Well, yeah.

But a FUNICULAR! And so many great neighborhood restaurants <sigh>

She will do so!

(We have a running share of "Actual Photo of the Holy Spirit on Her way to get up in your business..." and this is one of those photos.)

Haven't been through Pittsburgh in... 40 years? But that so rings true.

I spent a wonderful hour reading back through your archive. 😎

Is that little owl your own photo? A friend would love to frame it for her wall.

The phone on the wall in our kitchen had a ridiculously long coil-y cord - so you could walk around the corner into the attic stairwell and close the door. Good times!

Politics

Been noticing that, too.

Meanwhile, Teen Vogue seems to be dipping their toes back into political reporting, *with* historical context. (They purged writers a few months ago... and the pullback from gender / identity stories persists.)

It also expands your audience among people of younger or older generations, who May Not Understand The Reference.

Like, I'm grateful when the alt text *names* the person in the photo - suddenly, I, too, can enjoy the joke!

Haven't seen those for... a lot of years. In the 1970s, I had a pair of 5-petal studs about the size of my smallest fingertip. They were SO hypnotically blue!

I stepped into a shower without noticing I was wearing earrings. The humidity un-glued some feathers. Down the drain! Still kicking myself.

Oh, my dudes, those are cancers you DO. NOT. WANT.

(And they're not as rare as you may assume. You've probably never seen anybody who's struggling with them, because their faces during and after treatment would shock you.)

Ah, "Rutilated" rings a bell, but I didn't know what it referred to in terms of the mineral. DUH. THANKS!

Wow. Is that part of a lab-manufacture process, or does silk somehow naturally get lodged inside a rock formation?

Wait, what? There's silk (fiber??) inside the stone?

Doesn't help with the GYN exam problems, but y'all might also want to be aware that there are now Physical Therapists who are Certified Pelvic Floor Specialists. (I live in a poor, red, southern state but still had a choice among a few. While many OB-GYNs barely know what faschia *are,* etc.)
