On this day in 1908, a Jewish man was born in Reims. He was arrested in the Old Port roundup in Jan 1943. Interned in Royallieu camp then Drancy camp, he was deported to Sobibor on the 23 Mar 1943 where he perished. His name was AndrΓ© Levy

On this day in 1897, a Jewish woman was born in Ukraine. Living in France she was interned in Drancy before being deported to Auschwitz on the 27 Jul 1942 where she perished. Her sister also perished in the camp. Her name was Anna Klatzmann

On this day in 1896, a Czech Jewish woman was born. On the 7 May 1942 she was deported from Prague to Theresienstadt with her husband and son then, on the 9 May, to the Sobibor extermination camp where she perished. Her name was Anna KallovΓ‘

On this day in 1916, a Czech Jewish man was born. An export officer, he was deported to the Gusen concentration camp (a sub camp of Mauthausen) were he perished on the 17 May 1942. His name was Franz Fantl

I also find it ironic that one of the peoples that offered most help to the Jews under occupation was the Muslim Albanians.
I think what I find most shocking with countries like France and Hungary was how readily their authorities embraced the genocide
