ALL THE WATER IN THE WORLD by @eirencaffall.bsky.social was my favorite book this year. Itβs a meditative novel that dwells on memories of the World That Was before disastrous climate change & contemplates how we carry what has been salvaged into the future. Beautifully written!
Weβre heading into climate overshootβ¦
1.5 Β°C will be breached, tipping points loom, and the window for action is closing fast.
But the future isnβt fixed; rapid fossil phase-out, carbon removal, and restoring nature now can still pull us back from the brink.

I canβt fathom how the fossil fuel industry keeps cynically, perhaps even gleefully for all we know, digging its own grave and ours. All to be fleetingly richer. Itβs so obvious that the future belongs to those on the road to countering climate change.

Line graph time series of 2025's daily Arctic sea ice extent compared to decadal averages from the 1980s to the 2010s. The decadal averages are shown with different colored lines with purple for the 1980s, blue for the 1990s, green for the 2000s, and white for the 2010s. Thin white lines are also shown for each year from 2000 to 2024. 2025 is shown with a thick gold line. There is a long-term decreasing trend in ice extent for every day of the year shown on this graph between May and August by looking at the decadal average line positions.
