It went so well. Amazing students explaining how they’ve been involved in the research project on palaeoclimate data from coal through their BSc course at #UniSvalbard this spring to the King and Queen of Norway. And we ended the day with a reception at the Royal yacht!

Coal mining was the heart and soul of Longyearbyen and now it’s coming to an end. The last mine closes in a couple of weeks. But my daughter got to perform at the open day yesterday for people from town for a last visit to the mine #gruve7remix

I take it as a chance to reach a slightly broader audience than is possible otherwise. Yesterday I gave a very well attended (also by non-scientists) talk about women in science highlighting some of the many career issues. Does it change anything? Maybe not. But maybe it opens a few people’s minds.
Yes, great programme and colleagues from #UNISvalbard organizing. I’m not attending, though. I’ll be in the field with students.
