St. Martin lanterns in form of an hedgehog and a dragon, made with lots of glue and mother's tears and of course real candles, because what would St. Martin be without the thrill of toddlers carrying open fires in a bowl of dry paper?

St. Martin today. I miss glueing lanterns together, putting bonnets on whiny kids, enduring an icy cold church service, walking the streets singing "rabimmel rabammel rabumm", trying to get a glimpse of the brass band and the horse and hoping the lanterns won't burst into flame. Time goes too fast.

Tonight a friend hosted a meeting in a poolside restaurant and so I took the time to arrive earlier and swim for an hour in a heated outdoor pool under the cold night sky. It was mesmerizing. A tiny spa holiday. 🏖️
