The real story is that foreign govts try to "interfere" all the time. In 2020 and 2024 we had mechanisms to catch them, call them out, & mitigate damage. Now, those mechanims are gone & the Trump admin would prefer to exploit "foreign interference" to justify a federal take-over of elections.

I can't get over this number: in 2007, there were 360,000 newspaper jobs. Now, there are 80,000. "My local paper sucked!" Sure. What sucks even more? The void. "I get all my news from the Guardian!" No, the Guardian doesn't report on your town council, your school board, local cops.

7 democrats voted with MAGA republicans to push through ICE funding. If they voted no, it would’ve been blocked.

Hakeem Jeffries can’t get his caucus in order to stop ICE fascists as they arrest without judicial warrants, kidnap children, & kill citizens.

Schumer Remarks and Talkers on Democrats’ Plans to Address the Affordability Crisis as Trump and Republicans Send Costs Skyrocketing and Create Chaos in the Economy
Unlike Republicans, Democrats are laser-focused on lowering costs for the American people and will roll out precisely how a Democratic majority will lower costs for everyday Americans, starting today with housing.
Today, Leader Schumer rolled out a new housing agenda, Opportunity Starts at Home – Democrats’ new vision to tackle the housing crisis and lower housing costs for every single American.
For millions of Americans, owning a home is the most important part of the American dream, it builds equity and a future for Americans.
But the median price of a home is up 55% since Covid, and rent is up by one-third. The average American homebuyer is now 40 years old, a record high.
Donald Trump’s tariffs have raised construction costs by $17,500 per home. He’s proposed 50-year mortgages, an idea so unserious it was ridiculed by everyone, left, right, and center.
Trump is launching a criminal investigation against the Chair of the Federal Reserve, making it more likely interest rates will go up and stay up.
The only decent idea Trump has floated on housing he stole from Democrats – calling for an end to institutional investors buying up homes. Every Democrat voted to get it done last year, but Congressional Republicans blocked it.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s Secretary of Agriculture offered the administration’s solution to grocery costs, which boils down to “eat less and spend less.”
The Trump administration is filled with a bunch of out-of-touch people living in a bubble.
And this is what Trump’s so-called Golden Age looks like – get by with less, and stop complaining about affordability.
A Democratic majority will tackle the housing affordability crisis by working to reduce rent, boost homeownership, stop predatory corporations, supercharge construction, and provide housing security for all Americans.

A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Asheville—and the hotel bars locals within 50 miles.

When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies.

This is outrageous.

In America, where irony is dead, a hotel chain uses a policy denying shelter to local people, for fear of accidentally housing homeless persons…

To deny a reservation to the author of a much-lauded book on how American economic unfairness forces working people into homelessness.

I'm shaking almost too hard to type. I entered SLC airport and heard screams and cries for help. I could see people gathered around, watching. I sped over to discover this woman face down on the floor, four grown men pushing her down, while she cried "HELP ME" and pled for her child.

Fall of Freedom is an urgent call to the arts community to unite in defiance of authoritarian forces sweeping the nation. Our Democracy is under attack. Threats to free expression are rising. Dissent is being criminalized. Institutions and media have been recast as mouthpieces of propaganda.

This Fall, we are activating a nationwide wave of creative resistance. Beginning November 21–22, 2025, galleries, museums, libraries, comedy clubs, theaters, and concert halls across the country will host exhibitions, performances, and public events that channel the urgency of this moment. Fall of Freedom is an open invitation to artists, creators, and communities to take part—and to celebrate the experiences, cultures, and identities that shape the fabric of our nation.

Art matters. Artists are a threat to American fascism.

Of course Mamdani has visited Jewish communities. What angers Greenblatt is that Mamdani isn't courting HIM. By winning the young Jewish vote while condemning Israel, Mamdani is exposing how out of touch Greenblatt is with many of those he claims to represent. That's what makes Mamdani a threat.
