Look at who disproportionately has their career, financial stability, mental health, and physical health affected more and this is not at all surprising. Data are clear that women bear the cost all around far more than men and women know this.

I’m old enough to have seen too many women end up as single parents and/or try to recover from lost careers including when they found themselves single again and needed to support themselves. Women are disproportionately impacted financially when they have kids.
Or women know that statistically they are far more likely to be left holding the bag when things go to shit and are more likely to have to make career sacrifices that they are never able to recover from.
💯 And special payments to children who are subjected to this and will have to deal with the trauma for the rest of their lives.
A graph of connected notes from Obsidian.md
I know the graphs are mostly/completely useless but I love how they take such a unique shape for each user.
I love Obsidian because of its modularity/extensibility. You can make the app whatever you need/want it to be and all your files are YOURS.
I swear it’s like ya’ll just think of everything! I like this because I really don’t want to download images for everything but only in very select instances. This feature is great.
For those who use #Obsidian, do you use it to manage tasks? I have always used Apple Reminders, but I keep making checklists in Obsidian for work and writing-related tasks and am wondering if that would work better at least for those tasks. But can't seem to find the right workflow.
🖐️ #Obsidian nerd since 2020 checking in!
I love these “notes to blog” solutions. Quotion and Alto both offer blog publishing from Apple Notes. Obsidian has its own publish function which is great, and there’s a few other services that publish from Obsidian to the web. So many good options these days.
It’s intimidating at first but once you get the hang of it, it gets so much easier and it’s so much better than Notion IMO.
I’ve also learned stuff from Danny Hatcher, Mike Schmitz, Curtis McHale and Vicky Zhao. All actual real people.
Not sure what you’re looking at but check out Nicole van der Hoeven who has been putting out great Obsidian content since before AI videos were even a thing.

Obsidian is great. Their importer tool is fantastic. Obsidian does have a learning curve but there are plenty of great people on YouTube and Discord who provide great content on how to use Obsidian.

Collectively, people have power. You don’t have to do all of these! Just cancel 2-3 and you are helping to make a difference.

At a minimum, just cancel prime. You won’t get stuff overnight and have to wait a few days. Shipping is often still free over $35.
I’ve largely stopped using Amazon (canceled prime, order as much as I can elsewhere). Been shocked at how much money I’ve saved. Often, other purchasing options are cheaper than Amazon now (directly from retailer, local store, another retailer) and even has free shipping.
Nice to see a CEO with a backbone and a moral compass.

like i said the other day, i’m past the point of hounding individual publishers about why they’re still on substack. but i simply cannot understand it.
I’ve heard of people who thought they could survive Ai layoffs by becoming “Ai managers” but it appears even that’s now ripe for cutting because we’re entering a world where the Ai is going to manage and iterate itself. Companies may just become a lone CEO surrounded by computer terminals.
Included in this is a #datastrike guide that is really good. Again, not all or nothing - just pick a couple of things from this checklist and do them. When you're ready, pick a couple of more.

And on a related note - this is a fantastic outline of how to use the power of your data to send a message (and protect your privacy).

what is great about this is that it's not an all-or-nothing deal. maybe you can't unsubscribe from Apple, but you can live without Amazon Prime. Maybe you still use ChatGPT but only the free version. There are MILLIONS of us and just a handful of these corporations. We have MORE power.
If you don't like what is happening right in in the U.S., the BEST WAY to fight back is with your money and your data. @profgalloway.com is right - how and where we spend our money is our greatest weapon so #resistandunsubscribe

(That is, it can be whatever you want it to be)
The great thing about Obsidian is that it can be anything from a regular cup of coffee to a venti vanilla bean frap with 3 scoops vanilla bean, one scoop of java chips, one pump of mocha, one pump of peppermint, with half whole milk, half heavy whipping cream w/ extra whipped cream and mocha drizzle
This is a really good guide for avoiding digital surveillance and just improving overall digital privacy. Going to start working on doing some of these things.
