A friend reminded me today of Martin Luther King Jr and how the spiritual landscape and politics go together. May leaders in both fields align and come together in the stand for human life. May we learn power without domination.
Gratitude to Ethan Nichtern for inviting me on his podcast, The Road Home, to discuss what are admittedly pretty sensitive & difficult topics.
I've long looked at Ethan as a kind of older brother in the dharma, someone who has helped pave the way for millennial teachers like myself.
We are in a collective spiritual crisis.
Do not let our country devolve into democrazy...
Recalling the Ninth Mindfulness Training of the Order of Interbeing: "We will do our best to speak out
about situations of injustice, even when doing so may make difficulties for us or threaten our safety."
I’m contemplating how people are losing everything from 🔥 and 🌀. Today, I overheard people taking at a coffee shop, in Black Mountain, NC, about knowing friends that have lost houses in Los Angeles. I do too. Here and there. This is the reality we live within…🕯️❤️🩹
Of course, my attention keeps going to L.A. I have friends and colleagues there. Vince and I lived in Santa Monica for a year and taught at InsightLa. Let’s continue to stay awake to climate change and take care of each other. No one is immune.
Waking up to fires 🔥 raging in Los Angeles…no one is immune to climate change & escalating weather events. May all beings be safe from harm & to all my friends in L.A-my heart is w/ you!! Stay as grounded as possible, this too shall pass. Hold your loved ones tight & focus on want really matters. ❤️
I hadn’t heard of the movie Emilia Pérez until the Golden Globes. 😳 it is a beautiful and groundbreaking movie. It pushes conventional boundaries in a heartfelt and thoughtful way. If you’ve seen it, what did you think? I’m so glad it won
Sensing into the ending of 2024 and the beginning of 2025. Are y’all feeling it?
Noticing a longing for a different framework to hold the “new year, new me” mentality.
Life is challenging. There is impermanence. Now what?
Perhaps these days in between… bardo like..are for contemplation. 🙏🏻💛🕯️📿🧎🏼♀️

Shout out to 🌎 World Central Kitchen! They served over a MILLION meals in WNC after Helene. I will donate to them for the rest of my life. 🙏🏻💛❤️🩹 I helped serve their food one day at my kid’s school. And that is only one place they showed up. So much gratitude.
After going through catastrophic Helene, I’m even more curious about sustainable agriculture. 👩🏼🌾 I see how important it is to be able to grow healthy food. My grandparents farmed & held a caring relationship with land. They grew collards. The ones we planted this year are still going strong. 🥬🥬
I’ve mentored Mindfulness Teachers for 8 years and currently coming to the end of this cycle of training. Reviewing practicums now and amazed at how mindfulness is being integrated into so many different ways of living. It is becoming more & more broad. I wonder how this impacts the value of depth.
I don’t know. There is a lot of empowerment that can arise from being willing to take a step back and look at what is arising with a perspective of curiosity.
Is the is a “community” of social media “refugees”?
Ok. So what is really needed here?
@vincehorn.space asked our kid if he wanted deep peace and our kid said NO! He wants happiness. Perhaps there is something to the Buddhist Wisdom- everyone wants to be happy. When I sense into this, there’s connection. Kids are such reminders.
Soulfully mindful. The process of embodiment is unique and loving 🥰 humans … phew.. now, that’s the work.
evolving truths in the Buddhist Wisdom tradition 🌀
1st: life is traumatic in various degrees
2nd: there are causes
3rd: there is freedom of the cycles of trauma
4th: there are many ways to do this
Does this mean we are free now?
