There's a compulsion I've noticed among folks in public service (also: gay men, neurospicies, liberals, me ofc)...

It is so hard to get folks to prioritize themselves. If you just hint at needing help, they will drop everything. But tell someone to rest, and they'll go 110% instead. Why?!

Complaining on the Internet only goes so far. We must say no more, every day, in every way we can.

When they say they want Armageddon, we should believe them right? We don't have to accept it though.

There's all this advice out there about how if a job is making you miserable, or a relationship isn't serving you, you should leave it.

But like, what do you do when the real reason it's not serving you is because of the oppressive system we're under? It feels so selfish to put myself first.

What is astonishing still is not that so many powerful men were in a cabal run by Epstein. It's more that so many of them were comfortable with young girls and boys being trafficked and raped.

Sexual shame and misogyny are dangerous drugs. Sex is not meant to be like that.

BREAKING: The Department of Education has ended its directive that attempted to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in schools nationwide.

This is a victory for academic freedom and education equity.

It is striking me today that this space feels different than many others. Like what percentage of users are posting vs just reading here feels higher than, say, Reddit.

Surely the current situation is also due to a very vocal majority controlling narrative. But there are more of us than them.

I keep thinking that one of the most annoying things of the Biden years is how quickly we worked to forget what the lockdown and pandemic taught us.

Remember when grocery workers were heroes? Remember when spending more time at home with your kids was the most important thing? What happened?

So like, you know how there can be an anti-Pope sometimes? When can we start to refer to the occupant of the WH as an anti-President?

A complete and utter failure at fulfilling the duties of the office.

Hi, yes, I would like to end my trial to whatever future is represented by AI and dog-search-spy-cameras and techno-fascist social media. I'm more interested in the one where we, like, get to be human and take care of each other?

Kthxbye.

I would like to see our Congress be as unafraid of the regime as the people are.

We do not know where we go when we tear down this regime, but if we move forward it has to be better. Rep. Crockett said it plain, why aren't we reacting accordingly.

One thought on Bad Bunny and that's all: the best part was that it didn't even need to address yt culture. It just celebrated the global majority, with no mind to those other folk (well, I guess Gaga but that's it).

I think maybe the lesson from this era, hopefully one oligarchs can get, is that people aren't easily manipulated with technology tools. We can actually still tell when we're being lied to.

Here's the thing: there is massive uproar. People are pushing back. We are not in 1930s Germany, if only because so many of us are pissed and see what is happening. And we are an extremely racist country.

However, feeling defeated only helps the regime.

Yesterday was a good reminder that defeatism gets us nowhere and just feeds into the authoritarian goals. Screw that.

We will vote in November, they will be defeated, and accountability will follow swiftly. If not, even the Dems better be afraid.

One of the lies I'd like to see disappear in our collective narrative in the US is this idea that somehow this is not a country built on revolt and protest. As if France or South Korea or Iran are so much better than we are at this.

This country started with a revolt. Why would we ignore that?

One of the ways I protect my sanity is to avoid listening to messages from the regime or wannabe dictator.

This morning I heard Noem's voice for the first time and, um, does she always sound like she's 5 shots in?

It's easy to pretend everything is just fine, like we're not all grappling with the attempted overthrow of the government we serve.

Why not take walks, meditate, medicate? Maybe dance or listen to music? As if it's our fault we're panicking and stressed.

But it's the system, not us.

When those in power break the law, the social contract is severed, and they must be removed.

It seems odd, still, that we have such a reluctant opposition party. The thing that Dem leaders and the party structure need to realize is that their power is on thin ice too, if they don't stand up to the regime.

Power comes from the people, always.
