Great evening tonight #urbansketching at the conservatory greenhouse in the Barbican. First time trying to use my tablet like this... Pleased with the results, but this one sketch took a LONG time! Was great to test different brushes and techniques, and trying out layering of textures over colour.

Digital painting inspired by marianne stokes 1899 painting 'Dutch girl'. It has dark pencil construction line work on her chin, but her face is overall too small, and eyes particularly small... So needed to be fixed!
This was my first attempt! Felt it was OK, except pencil lines too dark, but then I hit on the idea that I could select and grow different parts to fix some dodgy proportions! So had a very quick play
Enjoyed a 45min #digitalpainting session for #portraitchallenge. This looks pretty odd, but I quite like that! My 1st go in some ways was better (annoyingly construction lines too dark), except my proportions were WAY off... So got to work with lasso and transform to upscaling her face then eyes! 🤣

Das erste Foto ist eine Collage aus verschiedenen Monotypien, daraus entstand dann das Leporello.
Eine Federzeichnung zeigt acht Häuser in einer Reihe: Ein Architekturbüro, eine verlassene Pizzeria, ein altes, verlassenes Haus mit Scheunentor, ein Tattoo-Studio, eine Nudelmacherei, ein Spielzeuggeschäft, die Zehntscheuer und einen sehr schönen Fachwerkbau (Jugendgästehaus). Bis auf die Nudelmacherei und die Jugendherberge sind alle Häuser traufständig angeordnet. Das größte Gebäude ist die Zehntscheuer mit ihrem gewaltigen Satteldach und den zwei wandhohen Toren. Heute dient es als Museum.

Ich fand Etel Adnans Idee, vom großen New York ein Leporello anzufertigen, sehr originell. Deshalb zeige ich einen Straßenzug aus meiner kleinen Stadt - ebenfalls als Leporello.

Für die Künstlerin Jeanne Mammen habe ich mich als altes Revuegirl verkleidet: Ein rosa Hut, dekoriert mit Massageschwämmen und Kunstblumen, dazu ein Badeanzug-Oberteil im Stil von 1900. Alles mit dramatischer Beleuchtung und großem Vergnügen inszeniert. Eine ältere Frau im Profil nach links trägt einen breitkrempigen rosa Hut mit üppiger, blütenartiger rosa Dekoration. Bekleidet ist die Frau mit dem rot-weiß gestreiften am Ausschnitt gerüschten Oberteil eines Badeanzuges um 1900. Den Hintergrund bildet ein roter Vorhang. Die dramatische Beleuchtung von unten lässt die Haut der Frau bläulich erscheinen.

I really like what you've done too! But I totally understand that feeling you describe - for me it's a slightly painful gap between what I imagined I might achieve and not quite achieving it... I had the same really strong feeling with Jeanne Mammen! In my head it was going to be epic!!

Was really nice to think of memories of my parents - I can remember them very clearly in these scenes, Sailing and Decorating!
Again enjoyed playing with digital painting for a change.
