The electorate instinctively know that what has gone before just isn't good enough for what is to come. The question is which radical change is best (and I guess least dangerous) for the nation.
What is clear to me is that unfettered capitalism is not a sensible option.
We patently need a level of radical social reform. The level of wealth inequality is becoming dangerous. The AI revolution potentially propels this inequality. Populist politicians - fuelled by huge donations from the ultra wealthy - go for divisiveness above all else to mask the real issue.
Nope. Just as difficult as before. No change.
Any politician who thinks its ok to wage war on a Middle Eastern state without proper justification or a clear endgame should not hold public office.
If thats all it takes for America to become a cluster f**k then what is is the rest of the world supposed to think?
The American electorate bear responsibility for turning their country into a rogue chaotic banana republic. Shame on them.
The law is supposed to be independent and not suborned by those in power. Unfortunately that is not the case and that needs to be addressed constitutionally.
Yep. Straws duly clutched.
Actions speak louder than words in this case. Nations are sorting themselves out with regard to the 'new world order'.
But only Mark Carney and Macron offer direct words of criticism.
Youre absolutely right but what's you're point?
Tax wealth not work is a mantra politicians should follow
This level of egregious behaviour could not stand in an established European democracy. No way. And we all saw what happened in South Korea when the leadership overstepped the mark.
Its not down to an individual's action - its the vital opprobrium of the majority that stops crap from happening.
Trump.
America.
This is not a drill.

The lack of any meaningful consequence for Trump in the court of public opinion in America is baffling.
So many 'let's all object in this way' have been and gone to no effect.
Apathy rules.
No. I think America is going down over this.
Other nations have completely lost trust in the USA. They just aren't saying it openly.....yet. When you are coerced bullied and abused by a powerful friend you lose trust. Regaining that trust is a hard road.
Yep. Trump has undoubtedly betrayed Ukraine and unfortunately the American electorate as well as the court of US public opinion are complicit in this. They have abjectly failed to adhere to the principle 'when good men stay silent evil prospers.
Shameful

The Freedom of Information Act must have a clause. Maybe like: 'The authorities being approached have the right to deny access if it is deemed inconvenient or potentially embarrassing'.

I am pro the MMR vaccine but I fully understand the mistrust enshrined in the low take up by parents. The government and big pharma completely abused the trust of the public in dealing with Covid. They continue to lack transparency.

Follow the money and the actions and thus behold the logical conclusion. Trump is to be seen alongside Putin in almost all respects.
Well that wasnt much fun. Watched a poor League 1 side play a half decent championship side...

Another lesson is to consider how much of this corrupt shit goes on day in day out.....We only know about this because of Epstein and getting the files released has been harder than getting baby Trump to eat his greens.
Abuse of power is in my opinion endemic.
This has been so engineered by the current administration. The abuse of the democratic system by Trump and his acolytes is obvious.
Its awful to witness from thus side of the Atlantic
Increasing the already burgeoning welfare spend in isolation seems unwise. People (politicians) always seem willing to express spending intentions without referencing control/reform measures or tax raising intentions.
In the UK the appeal to hatred is Farage. He is capitalising on the inequality that has strongly emerged since the 90's and is fast getting more obvious. People need something to blame. Trying to explain that the fault is capitalism without a social brake is hard. Doing something about it is harder
Yep. Same in UK.
When you have media supporting the agenda of a corrupt authoritarian regime its hard. Somehow those voices left have to be loud enough to point out the distraction and division tactics. And being this back to real issues....equality equality equality
As a brit im trying to understand how things got this bad in the US. I think maybe the root cause is inequality and the disenfranchisement of the poorer echelons of the people. Trump has used this problem to his great advantage with skill. A radical solution was needed but you got Trump.
Taxing the rich is the main thing. ICE is literally a distraction. The co-opted right are going out of their way to 'other'. Blaming others, citing others as parasitic is their playbook. What they want to avoid at all costs is a proper taxation policy to achieve more equality.
