Last night my state Rep. @aishagomez.bsky.social delivered a guy-wrenching tribute to Minnesota's fight against federal oppression.
It's a must-watch but this was my favorite part: They call us paid protestors because they can't conceive that we love our neighbors enough to stand up for them.
The numbers do speak for themselves. In fact, our neighbors know this because they feel it on the ground. They expect us to do more.
How about you stop telling us behind closed doors that we shouldn’t fund immigrant legal assistance, rental assistance, or support for our small businesses!
There was so much ICE activity today. A group of agents spent the whole morning inside Jimmy’s Bar and then ended up driving erratically all throughout the Holland & Como neighborhoods, eventually trying to park at the 2nd precinct police station.
There’s an increase of ICE activity today in South Minneapolis including Powderhorn, Phillips and East Lake Street. Tom Homan wants our community to put its guard down but we won’t be doing that. 1/

Press conferences and social media posts have not changed conditions on the ground. Another person taken today off of Central Ave and Northeast middle school had to delay letting kids leave because of ICE presence in the area. The federal government continues to make our community less safe.

We’ve been on the streets all day with @bradlander.bsky.social and because we had so many patrols out, multiple abductions were prevented.
The world is looking to us for inspiration, and we will keep showing them how we show up for our neighbors.
ICE has been back at it with their illegal activity today. Abducting multiple neighbors in the Ward, physically assaulting observers, coming into businesses threatening that they will be back to arrest people for no reason.
If they come back today, they’re going to have to go through me first.

This was a whole lot of words to say absolutely nothing. Let’s end the era where these corporations control politicians.
If they wanted this to end they could leverage their capital to do so. They don’t actually want the ICE operations that are widely unsupported to stop. They’ll still let ICE stage in their lots, let Bovino terrorize customers, and let their employees get attacked by ICE on the job.
