How are others in the field communicating with international applicants? How do we do the morally good thing and guide them to greener and safer pastures? I’m relatively low on the totem pole and limited in what I can do. Imo admins and lawyers and deans should challenge this.

It’s exploitative and wrong in my opinion to ask these international applicants to pool resources and time to apply to one of our programs with the hopes of coming here, bettering themselves, and escaping horrors when they can’t come based on some insane travel ban.

Question for others in higher education: I sat in on a meeting this week held by the graduate office saying with respect to international applicants, it’s illegal for us to communicate to them in any way that they can’t come to the US because of the travel ban.
