Young buck Roe Deer at @scotwildlife.bsky.social's Bawsinch NR. First photo taken 17 Feb, second on 7 March. It has a slightly squint, what I call a "wonky" antler. Doesn't look to be in very good nick in second photo. @wildphotoscot.bsky.social
Great show of Elfcups this year, been seeing it everywhere I go. This is probably Scarlet Elfcup (Sarcoscypha austriaca) [PS please note Wikipedia's entry is incorrect, it gives the scientific name for Ruby Elfcup!!] @scotwildlife.bsky.social @britishmyology.bsky.social
Iβll post some pics, canβt see if Iβve shared a photo already.
Think Iβve got photos of him too, seen a few times. Has a wonky-shaped antler?
Wow, so many close together. Beautiful.
Roe Deer buck and doe. Velvet cast from his antlers, blood still visible. She was more confiding, both were lying down when I first saw them, very close; I watched for 15mins before they both slowly moved off. @scotwildlife.bsky.social Bawsinch NR. Long lens used but they weren't bothered by me.
Didnβt get quite such a good a close-up of the buck though. Superb shot.
I had the same wonderful experience yesterday. They were both lying down. I watched for 15 minutes. Two guys appeared on the path so I pointed. They looked for a minute and walked on. She got up and slowly walked off. So confiding. Just beautiful.
Coltsfoot, Tussilago farfaro, in full flower now, at @scotwildlife.bsky.social's Bawsinch NR in Edinburgh. Yellow sunshine flower in the sunshine. @bsbiscotland.bsky.social

Seen in both Norfolk and Suffolk on yesterday's walk near Brockdish. These are Suffolk specimens.

Thanks Dean. See my reply to James. I shouldnβt post things so late in the day when Iβm not concentrating! And agreed, too old to say.
Drat, I had IDed the bramble rust for another group and copied the wrong name for the leaf mine. I meant to type Stigmella aurella for the leaf mine causer. But thanks James, as you say probably too old to say.
Was looking at this Star Jelly, frog or toad spawn and intestines. Herons find it indigestible so its quite a common sight to see this lying in grass, as here. There was a heronry in the adjacent woods. Near Kinneil Museum @westlothiancouncil.bsky.social

Phellinus pomaceus (Cushion Bracket) on dead Buckthorn at @scotwildlife.bsky.social's Bawsinch NR. When first seen five or so years ago, this tree was dying, is now well dead. But the Phellinus continues to thrive. #fungi #bracketfungi @britmycolsoc.org.uk
Nice to see, I saw at least three places. Not seen any in the public bit but not been in there this year.
Lucky to photograph a Blue Tit and Long-tailed Tit nest prospecting at the same spot. The Blue Tit was already nest-building.

Wrong year, first one seen on that spot was in 2021
Love the Alt text. Nice wee storyπ»
Yep, the very same. Wasnβt sure your first pic was it, itβs opened up a lot since my visit lady Friday.
I noticed the other day the first one I ever found there is still in the same spot! Thatβs every year since 2019 (? need to check the year though)

@alan678.bsky.social's theme for #BirdOfTheDay today is a #WideOpenWings. First a Robin, seen at Dalmeny, near South Queensferry, more of a whirr of wings than wide open. And Long-tailed Tit, displaying, one wing wide open, at Bawsinch NR, Edinburgh
Herald up possibly because it offered a full subscription for a year Β£20 deal just before Christmas?
