Just look at how much energy we spend as societies to make sure poor people don’t get 5 Euros/ Pounds/ whatever more in benefits. That’s thousands upon thousands of public servants. Look at how few people actually work on auditing rich people right now in our countries. It’s all political decisions.

Cannot read the article behind the paywall, but this is not true and an argument that rich people love to put forward to obfuscate the simple reality: most of their assets are immovable, like companies and properties. They are quite easy to tax, we just have to have the political will to do it.
