It's not quite finished (school's getting busy), but there's enough for people to use.

This feels like a One Piece quote. Maybe Dr. Hiriluk?

First exposure to that quote was through The Magnus Archives. If you like cosmic horror, it's a great podcast.

Favorite quote? Bonus points for why.

No, seriously. I'm Jeskai but love playing 5C. He's at the head of my 5C lock deck (Mycosynth Lattice/Null Rod) and he ain't changing.

My grails are the foil oversized Helvault cards from the Avacyn Restored prerelease. I WILL make bad financial decisions to get them.

Favorite card is Phage the Untouchable, for reasons I'm not entirely sure why. It was one I had early on in my journey and I think it just got stamped "favorite card" and I haven't updated it.

Other favorite card is my prerelease Jodah, Archmage Eternal. I pulled it from a kit, and he's like me fr.

What did the head chef say to the velociraptor prep cook? "Cleaver girl..."

Not a lung.

Not a film, but a TV miniseries: Guns, Germs, and Steel. It's analysis on the "why" of history, not the "how".

Another TV miniseries: The Lost Room. It's difficult to find, but it's way worth it. A motel room drops out of existence, and artifacts from that room gain amazing properties.

I will always recommend The Fly (1958). One of the best horror films I've ever seen, and one of the best moral dilemmas too.

Anything by Alfred Hitchcock, but mainly To Catch a Thief, Rear Window, and The Man Who Knew Too Much.

F for Fake by Orson Wells. An amazing documentary about forgery.

For me it's a mix of terror and anxiousness. As a Christian I can't help but draw parallels to prophecies of the leadup to the Second Coming, with the dread of "it's going to get MUCH worse" mixing with the hope of getting through it in one piece. If He comes soon or not, I'm still trying to help.

The really, really sad thing? Of all the worst possible timelines, we're probably in one of the best. Trump is blatantly corrupt, but he's so open about it. If we had someone else who knew how to game the system better, we might not even recognize the moment we became a dictatorship.

The politics room on campus occasionally puts out a whiteboard for public commentary. Today's question was "What do you think about WW3?" I responded with "Young men die for old men's pride."

Gems were relatively easy, since there's only 21 abilities to juggle. Runes, on the other hand... I do have an idea of what to do for rune words, but that will come much later, once the runes are made.

Always love seeing game design iterations.

Daughtry. Savage Garden, but they're never getting back together.

There's always a pull between accuracy and representation. I almost always fall on accuracy, because there are contexts we don't have or get lost in translation when changed. It's one thing for a 1500-year-old Arabic tale, but it's another when the creators are still alive and within the culture.

Sorc's up. I've had this video on the backburner for 3 weeks now. I'm glad it's finally out. Now, back to stressing over normal-length videos for a while!

Very similar vein here, but a much more recent example:

There are probably way more. I am actively hostile to this idea, and to WotC in general. I do not trust the CFP to make good decisions (see: Lutri, Game Changers integrated into the brackets, discussions around Iona and hybrid mana). I believe them when they say something; I just don't trust them.

6) The arguments about "more tools" is flat out illogical. WotC controls the cards; they already HAVE the tools. Fallaji Wayfarer exists; if they want to allow off-color cards, they can simply make an ability that says "this card's color identity is X" or "this card ignores the color identity rule".

22.02.2026 17:15 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

5) It sets precedence for further changes. Phyrexian mana is just "2-life-brid", and the designer's intent was to allow it to be put in any deck. Should we change the rules for that? Same with any mechanic that offers choice: split cards, flashback, adventures, etc.

Same with Lutri and banlists.

22.02.2026 17:15 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

4) Once something is mechanically implemented, intent dies. You don't get to reinterpret the rules based on intent. Rewrite either hybrid mana or color identity, not the deckbuilding rules.

22.02.2026 17:15 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

2) It adds unnecessary complexity for very little gain, which goes against how the RC shaped the format (see: mana production rule change).

3) Why should the designer's intent trump the RC's intent, or even be considered? The designers had their chance, and wrote the rules into being.

22.02.2026 17:15 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Honest opinion? The change isn't made with logic. Most of the pro arguments are emotional, rather than logical, and others are strictly illogical.

1) If the change happens, the rules then apply differently in different situations, undermining the stability of the rules.

50-65 minutes. After that it just becomes noise.

Things change if there are graphics I need to see. I will sit and watch a 15-20 minute video. I will rearrange my workload for a 20-45 minute video. Anything longer than that is usually a multi-day endeavor as I fit it in between projects.

Hey, hey, hey, leave the Mormons out of it! 99% of the people I go to church with hate him.

There's always that one guy, though.
