“Repeal and replace” was a campaign commitment. Making housing more affordable was the goal. It’s time for Mayor Farkas to stand by that commitment, or admit it was never the plan at all.

Hope it's going well for you! I enjoyed doing a mix of clear, intuitive explanation (Walker) combined with more technical math (Vuchic and Wirasinghe's course notes)
People often ask: what can ordinary people do to stop populists like Trump and Smith from running roughshod over democratic norms?
Populists rely on the widespread perception that their actions are supported by "the majority" and "common people."
Anything that punctures that myth helps. +
Great chat with MRU POST students about Calgary's transit future – from reliability to accessibility.
Big thanks to Willem @wklumpen.bsky.social for joining and to the students for their thoughtful ideas. Always inspiring to see young Calgarians engaged in shaping our city.
Finding common ground in politics is hard.
That's why I'm grateful for Dave Cree's Ward 8 endorsement.
We want to move Calgary forward by lifting people up - regardless of identity, income, or background.
Now is our chance to tell the province we value independent municipal leaders.

No worries. Makes it more frustrating honestly.
I don't figure much. But if you choose the question and the approach you can get pretty much anything out of a poll.
Project Calgary is run by Peter Oliver, a key person in Myke's campaign.
So imperfect may be an understatement.
Project Calgary is run by Peter Oliver, the same dude heavily involved in or running Myke Atkinson's campaign. So grain of salt.
Also the polling methods are pretty high margin of error. And ward polls with 50+% undecided are kind of meaningless at the best of times.
Ward 7 could have been so easy. It's been demoralizing to watch things go off the rails due to petty politicking, classic progressive purity testing, and old grudges (and frankly, a ton of sexism).
Are we ever going to learn our lesson?
Results from the 2021 Calgary municipal election in Ward 7 with Terry Wong in 1st and progressives in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place.
Polling for the Calgary municipal election in Ward 7.
Zoomed in polling for the 2025 municipal election in Ward 7 with Terry Wong in 1st and progressive candidates in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place. Election Day is October 20.
Well, this is certainly predictable.
It's also avoidable. Progressives just repeating 2021 in Ward 7. 🤦 #yyccc
Hey, Sonya Sharp and Communities First, Calgary’s Climate Strategy isn’t a “costly political stunt”, it’s necessary policy. Ignoring this isn’t going to make these smoke days go away.
Sincerely, every Calgarian struggling because of air quality advisories due to wildfire smoke.

Pretty crazy leaps of logic to get all the way to "getting inside with forced treatment" from that statement Nate.
How is it a cash grab exactly? Yeah, the 7 day expiry is nonsense but that was there before.
We are apparently going to split the vote as much as possible to ensure said anti-development reign continues.
A great collab!
Another @jamaps.bsky.social special!
Red liberal signs on lawns in Rosedale, Calgary.
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign.
Painting Confederation red in Rosedale today for @coreyhogan.ca
We ran out.
It once again baffles me that we have staunch partisan opposition to sensible, transit-oriented housing in this city.
But clearly they're the minority.
Great to see so much support at today's public hearing for this much-needed project.
Definitely not the BNA. I met the guy once. Wild stuff. So shitty.
Vote for Calgary in the Strongest Town contest!
It's the only Canadian city in the running and that feels extra special now 🇨🇦

Seat selection costs are higher on the lowest fare often too. Went through this booking CDG-YYC. Tried all the permutations
Sometimes public transit leaders have to choose between electrification and service.
Choose service.

@jeromyyyc.bsky.social "Housing. But not via the most basic changes that need to happen to enable it".
Very disappointing take from Farkas over on the other site.
Want to hear the latest on housing in #yyc? Join us March 8th for our talk What's Next For Housing with More Neighbours Calgary and Good Neighbour.
We’ll take a look at what we’ve accomplished together, where we are now and how we can make an impact in 2025.

When I visit the Netherlands, apparently I take photos of closed bus stops.
An orange bag over the stop with text explaining the closure: Bright, simple, obvious, rainproof.
Something we should be doing over here?
