He's an actor presumably he reasoned it out based on where the cameras were or talking to the crew about whether his feet were in the shot.
I reviewed Crisol: Theater of Idols. It's a lovely little action-horror with some impressive environmental and audio design, and you shoot killer statues with guns that drink your blood. I could nitpick much of it, but overall I'm impressed.
