Obsessed with this Molly line, blaming drinking tea outdoors for the Earl of Bath’s death:
“He threw away his life by a needless piece of complaisance in drinking tea out of doors, after being warmed and heated by a great deal of meat…He was not at an age, nor ours a climate, for those al frescos”.
In my latest instalment of visiting every Norfolk country house I can, I spent my Sunday morning at West Acre Gardens - an absolutely gorgeous walled garden and spectacular polenta cake too 👀
Thank you, Clara!! It was a lovely surprise! ☺️☺️
After a fabulous few days at the Black Country Living Museum, I left the #SHSConf2025 feeling inspired and relentlessly cheerful - but a mixture of exceptional panels, fish and chips and a fairground will do that for you. Thank you @socialhistsoc.bsky.social for a truly amazing conference. 📚🖋️🎓
It’s not your fault at all! Every photo I’ve seen of me is very much the same - it was a bold choice from my side! 😂
(Also, deeply sorry about my face in this photo - can you tell it was a shock?)
I was so over the moon to have won the Postgraduate Paper Prize at the Social History Society Conference this year. What a fab end to a truly wonderful conference! Thank you @socialhistsoc.bsky.social !📚
