The new pretense otherwise is neither believable nor necessary. As I said, I am not asking for you to take these down. I found the exchange quite revealing, and think it should remain up, as is. If you truly did not intend them as an insult, then please re-evaluate your communication style. You are clearly proud of your history degree from Yale and career as a banker, so congrats, I guess. I am not an economist, but I do have research and policy evaluation experience. I have interacted with plenty of people with similar backgrounds in banking and finance while working on those papers. So while I am not an expert, I know enough to realize that the degree and work experience you describe are not relevant to someone's ability to critically read a research paper and form robust policy opinions from it, one way or the other. Some people form those skills through their education or work, and many don't.

Mr. Johnson has pointed out this inconsistency. We expect to see him in a gulag shortly.

As for me, I studied economics and earned a history degree at Yale, however Yale did not offer an economic history degree and that is how I carved my way through the history, economics and political science departments. In the economics department I worked with several Nobel Laureates. I also finished a second degree in East Asian Studies and wrote two theses, both on economics issues, both groundbreaking research that solved long standing problems that no one else had previously solved in those economic history fields.
