For those unfamiliar:
JRFs (Junior Research Fellowships) are highly competitive national exams in India- with <1% success rates
DBT-JRF, CSIR-UGC JRF: Only awarded to top-tier postgrads in life sciences
GATE (IIT Roorkee): national-level exam for M.Sc. grads, accepted across top research institutes
M.Sc. in Biomedical Sciences.
Worked on leukemic stem cells, HNSCC, Cacx, immune evasion, and omics.
Qualified CSIR UGC JRF, DBT-JRF, GATE XL (IIT Roorkee) .
Experienced in FACS, stem cell sorting, transcriptomics.
Defended my own thesis.
Not just a “trainee” — a research scientist.
As i am no longer obligated to give a notice, I would like to apply for as many positions as possible, starting from here. I am and indian orgin student with:
Research and technically academia is at this level in india. Some Professors consider they own the labs and do as it pleases them. They've turned universities into corporates and M.Sc. qualified training students into free cheap labour. Master students don't have a choice.
Got up. Got ready. Waited for the day.
Then the call came:
“You’re no longer required to come.”
Just like that. No warning. No closure.
It hurts. But I’m still standing.
