As a born and bred Northerner, I would definitely consider joining a club with a Butty Sommelier!

Today is preparing tax submission day, I hope I’m as lucky with that.

You are always worth listening to Mr G, just try not to over dramatise or hype it up too much. Keep it steady eh ?
And did Richard Of York Give Battle In Vain ?
Hoe us get bij jou? Nederlands is niet mijn moedertaal, dus dit is een nieuwe uitdrukking voor mij. Is het Fries of een regionaal dialect?
Such a pity after Friday
Luckily there are exceptions here in the Netherlands so some of us can still hold both NL + UK passports, I also qualify for Irish citizenship, but I would feel a bit of a fraud if I applied for it. I considered it before Brexit, but I feel comfortable with dual UK/NL citizenship.
I still remember when ladies dresses and larger household items were priced in guineas.
Spot on Mick, well said.
It was a well taken goal and a lovely pas.
Nice to see a Rovers chat on here, hopefully more will join in the future.
I understand the need to report current events, but it all seems so frantic and over hyped, all the time.
I agree, I’m 74 and whilst I understand the need to report current events, it all seems so frantic and over hyped, all the time. It isn’t worth the effort of listening or watching.
I’ve been an economic migrant for almost 50 years, we don’t call ourselves “expats“ and the majority of us do our best to integrate and adapt. Although we may occasionally buy a packet of crumpets from a specialist food shop. Here in NL we don’t get very sunburnt.
I understand Carns is the real deal, DD was just playing at being a soldie.
By the way, I watched a bit of the Rovers v Wednesday match last night. To say it was scrappy is an understatement. I’ve seen better on the the local park.
I’ve lived here almost 40 years, from the UK but with an Irish name. Over the years people here have often said “Oh, dat is een mooie naam, is het Schots?” to which I replied it’s an Irish name but I’m originally from England. Funny thing, since Brexit I noticed I left out “I’m from England.”
Give it two years before you make any big decisions. Don’t expect to read as many books as you think you will. One advantage is that it gives you more time around hospital appointments. The best is if you have grandchildren living close by, make a point of picking them up from school often.
But are they Liberals or Conservatives ?
I’ve always found it a strange definition to call the VVD “Liberals“ they sit with the RE faction in the European Parliament, but in word and deed they are surely a Conservative Party ?
HP sauce is produced at the Heinz plant in Elst here in the Netherlands, you can buy it in most Dutch supermarkets. Walkers shortbread is also stocked in Albert Heijn XL supermarkets on a special stand along with Mackays preserves.
Absolutely, all to do with Brexit!
As is Mark Carney.
Yep, even down to exactly the same clock and mirror.
What would be the difference between this HIHO model and the Norwegian or Swiss versions ?
Here in the Netherlands, most children from the age of 10 onwards cycle to school on their own or with friends.
Helsinki (Finish/international) Helsingfors (Swedish/Swedish-Fins). Helsingborg ferry port in south west Sweden.
why would they use the Swedish name for Helsinki ?
“Perkins, we need a futile gesture”
I remember them well, every shoe shop had one, it was fun to see your toes wiggle inside your shoes. Then suddenly they disappeared, and they were not spoken about. For me it was only once a year or so whenever I needed new shoes, but I wonder how many shoe show employees suffered long term damage?
