Russell Hoban's writing does that a lot ... he had a special talent for writing pithy sentences that get stuck in your brain, and a real way with a one-liner. I still remember copying down lines from his books into my spiral notebook when I first started reading him years ago.

There are many reasons to object to censoring pornography, including that if you ban porn, EVERY bit of information can be called porn, and EVERY bit of information will have to prove it is NOT porn or "adult"--effectively createing the surveillance of creating or consuming any and all information

Agreed, and also ... try telling say, Ukraine that you don't have to care about what happens in the country next door to you.

This is so important, and a good example of why calls to avoid primary challenges in the name of unity are counterproductive. Democratic politicians tend to need pressure from the Democratic base to push them toward doing the right thing. (NB: I'm still rooting for Brad Lander to win.)
