As today's prompt for #30DayMapChallenge is "Fire", I have to plug my contribution to #30DayChartChallenge for this year.

This is so relatable. I worked as a delivery driver in Sweden. With a student visa, I could only work for 15h/week. With flexible hours, I thought it was the best possible option for me. It is the worst job I've ever had. I have so much compassion for these people.
This is so cool! Thanks William
Wow what an amazing human being
I'm trying to catch up on some of my newsletters this Saturday and am really enjoying how sassy @brianklaas.bsky.social gets. Last week it was the McLaren owner parking illegally, and this week it is the so-called luminaries.
Always love reading capabilities approach applied in migration studies. Rodriguez-PeΓ±a presents a great case how migration capabilities vary across different regions.

Ah well...I have a PhD interview this Friday. Now I'm more concerned about answering questions like "Why Sweden?" and "Why our university?"
UN Behavioural Science Week is here and once again I am not going to be able to attend any of the sessions because of the time difference, but you should if you can! #BeSci

Do smugglers motivate irregular migration?
Only 4% of 60'000 migrants interviewed for a @mixedmigration.org study cited smugglers as influencing their decision to migrate.
Friends, family, returnees, and social media are more likely to play a role.

UNHCRβs guidance on returns to Syria underscores ongoing risks: insecurity, destruction, and humanitarian crises. While supporting voluntary, informed returns, it calls on states to suspend negative asylum decisions and allow access to asylum for Syrians.

Meanwhile, Iβve spent months in #Fiji living with the quiet dread of an accident or medical emergency, and when I finally spoke up about it, I was shot down like a bird π₯π€¦π»ββοΈ
So here I am, grounded β literally and figuratively. And yes, boo hoo, #FirstWorldProblem. I'm whining about my travel woes.
The Fijian Government took nearly 9 months to process my residency application. Because, surprise, LGBT+ couple!
Without my passport, I couldnβt finalise my #NewZealand visa, which I started back in May. Fast forward to today: weβre technically flying in a few days, except I cannot.
I love it, I miss it, you should give it a try π
Ah I miss it so much π
The article raised a few questions for me:
- In federal systems, what (if any) role do the regional gvt's play?
- What is the situation here in the Pacific? I see 'women' being mentioned in the DRR circles, but in practice?
- Implementation rarely matches policy, I wonder how it is in reality.
Amazing article. I am so happy to see gender is getting more attention in the climate mobility research. Beyond great researchers like @drsayebkarlsson.bsky.social

Iβm especially saddened by the silence of so many of my former colleaguesβparticularly those from countries that fund, defend, and support Israel. The suffering in Palestine demands our voices, not silence. We owe it to those weβve pledged to serve.

Excellent thread π
I think @deeesharp.bsky.social is missing here ππ»
Amazing. I had no idea. Instant sub.
I saw the Orion Nebula and Andromeda on my birthday and took a shot with myπ±
Jupiter and its moons were so visible. Betelgeuse is the red dot to the right and the Orion is just above that. Pleiades wasn't very visible to the naked eye but I'm happy with the result β¨

It's encouraging to see climate displacement gaining more attention in global media. The evidence is clear: climate change will intensify displacement worldwide, particularly in the most vulnerable regions. ππ»

Let's see how much he'll be able to achieve
Alright, alright. It's my first attempt and I'm ok with how it came out π The views were even better than the photo could capture. Dark skies for all!

This sounds great. So many amazing people have already confirmed. Rebecca was one of the first people I reached out to when I was drafting my thesis, and Daniel is the reason I'm on BSKY. This workshop will be so fruitful.
While this is not a common view I get to see, being able to enjoy such views rather frequently is πππππ.
However, not hearing back from the numerous online volunteering applications I submitted is π«₯π«₯π«₯π«₯π«₯.
Woohoo! Congrats Daniel! Looking forward to reading it. π
Bula from Fiji ππ»
One of the advantages of living here is the opportunity to do such things even for a long weekend.
I didn't know pines lived in rainforests until I moved to Fiji. As someone from the Med, I was thrilled to see pines among all different shades of green π
