I underestimate challenges or am overconfident in my abilities, sometimes both. This helped me achieve things I would not otherwise. AI has really helped me fill the gap between reality and my perception faster recently
We talk a lot about AI slop but we tolerate so much human slop already. And at the end of the day we are only exposed to AI slop if a human thinks it is ok to share with other humans.

Yeah, there is a risk there, and possibly more dangerous for devs with less experience. Being able to hold AI’s feet to the fire is very important. Being curious and using AI to learn the codebase instead of firehosing code into it when you are new to the team or domain is important

Yes we will decide individually and vote with our attention in the end, it is just disappointing that instead of enlightenment, dialogue and collaboration globally we are being served more cheap entertainment. More snacks instead of a healthy, balanced diet

“We will fund research with this” is not an excuse to deliver something that might be harmful or addictive. “We will do our best” is not a convincing statement considering previous commitments and statements openai walked back on

Oof, the part about Clubhouse didn’t age well. Don’t get me wrong; I love the book so far. Imho Clubhouse didn’t solve the cold start problem, it was not “cold” during covid for some companies. Many have overlooked the fact that they didn’t actually crack the problem.
All generalizations are wrong
It is totally unfair to say Metcalfe was wrong about social networks, I believe he only invented that law in terms of possible connection points of physical networks (fax, ethernet)
