At this point it's barely even a boycott, I've just stopped thinking of Target as a place to buy the things I used to buy at Target.

βAlmostβ? MPD sure seems past that
"There is no data showing this is true" is just... false? We did a study less than two years ago showing a pre-eviction notice CAN help! If you want to say you disagree with the study that's one thing, but it's another to deny that any data exists.
It's day 100 of the ICE occupation of MN.
For 100 days, this community has done everything in our power to protect and care for our neighbors.
And today, Jacob Frey failed to do the bare minimum and give neighbors time to recover and put their lives back together.
We'll be π some 𧡠below.
DHS agents are still here in our community in plain clothes scouting out immigrant owned businesses on Central, knocking on neighbors doors, swapping out licenses plates in cars without registration, and driving dangerously in our community.
Meanwhile, people in Minnesota and around the country are conducting a massive mutual aid effort to get the landlords paid. But it takes time for people to get help! If people can't get the money, landlords are going to be out thousands upon thousands of dollars and they'll never collect most of it
This is one of the things that really shows how shortsighted Frey's decision is. Landlords rarely get paid when they evict someone, even in the long run. In MN, you can't collect rent on an eviction judgment; you need to sue separately. And most rent assistance won't pay arrears for prior residences
most evictions are for βback rentβ no?? what in the world are they doing?!
So it's been amazing to see all the rent relief fundraising. Absolutely incredible. But it gets to me that the end result of all this is the money goes to line landlord pockets. And yes families stay housed. That's vital. But it's all of us every day regular degular citizens sacrificing for it.
I would like to know the answer to this question ππΌ

LFG! Every little bit helps.
Fries are pretty good too!
Somewhere I have a photo of a squirrel eating brisket on a trash can in Loose Park in Kansas City. Peak squirrel life if you ask me. Anyway this reminded me of that

Still no other reporting on this so far.
this is a great piece. i live right by a freeway and spend a lot of time walking and biking around other downtown-adjacent neighborhoods that used to all be connected until freeways came in and ruined it, so i think about the harms of them and what we lost often

Monday Evening in Minnesota in a gradiant of light pink to fuchsia more or less on a dark reddish purple background
It is nearing 6:30 p.m. (but probably still feels like 5:30 p.m.) in Minnesota.
Hope you remembered to eat and drink and take your meds and all of that stuff. Get on it, if you're past due.
Hang in there, folks.
Fuck ICE (Abolish ICE).
This is to say: if you're an attorney who's hesitated to take on habeas cases because you think you lack the knowledge, or you're worried about whether you'll really help, I PROMISE you can make a difference. I'm just a dipshit with a 7-year-old laptop and a bad attitude. If I can do it, so can you.
