Just imagining how much better it would be if ALL news stories about vaccine-preventable illnesses were illustrated with pictures of people with the disease, not pictures of needle injections. If you must show something that people will find scary & unpleasant, make it the disease, not the cure.
Phages as antimicrobial therapy: guest edited by Ruby Lin, The University of Sydney, Sabrina Green, KU Leuven & Renee Ng, The University of Western Australia. Despite their potential identified over 100 years ago, therapeutic phage use remains highly constrained. www.nature.com/collections/...

Everyone interested in #virus loves a #bacteriophage right? It's amazing they are the most abundant and diverse biological entity on the planet, yet were discovered just over 100 years ago! To give them the attention we believe they deserve, npj Viruses has launched three collections on #phages:

Trust in science and media matters more than ever. AI offers incredible opportunitiesβbut can also fuel distortion. Joyce Lorigan and @lingenhoehl.bsky.social share insights on combating false narratives and maintaining public trust in science.

Microsoft Excel adds Copilot Al to help ... theverge.com The Verget-4.1-mini Al model | 5 successor to the LABS.GENERATIVEAI function Microsoft started experimenting with in 2023. Microsoft notes that you can combine its new Al function with other Excel functions, including IF, SWITCH, LAMBDA, or WRAPROWS. The company adds that information sent through Excel's COPILOT function is "never" used for AI training, as "the input remains confidential and is used solely to generate your requested output." The COPILOT function comes with a couple of limitations, as it can't access information outside your spreadsheet, and you can only use it to calculate 100 functions every 10 minutes. Microsoft also warns against using the AI function for numerical calculations or in βhigh-stakes scenariosβ with legal, regulatory, and compliance implications, as COPILOT "can give incorrect responses."
