my to-read book pile is out of control. seriously... its really bad... i could build a castle out of my books thats how bad it is. i could play with them like blocks.
speaking of, these are my solid top six of the season! i will admit to extra favoritism for the seer... ππ
long time no see! i've been busy doing indie reviews! if you're interested in checking out some cool indie titles, i've got a list of links to ones I have personally reviewed on my website now. now that i'm caught up on my backlog from the winter, expect more reviews!
I hope I will too!! It looks very cool!
It is finally time... to show off Fractured Magic! I won a giveaway for this, and as you can see, it's beautiful. If you want to read along, go check out @queerenigma.com and read it on their website!
The package was so fun to open, I was seriously delighted by all the goodies!
β³πβ‘οΈπ The Rivals or Sherlock Holmes - a collection of stories from other writers at the time of Sherlock's publishing who were inspired to make their own detective stories!! I love history and detectives so I'm hooked right there.
π©Έπβ‘οΈππͺThe Lonely Dead - Adele sees ghosts and really is not happy about it. Except she finds the body of an ex-best friend in a shallow grave and has to team up with her ghost anyways! People who deny/try to avoid their own magic powers are so interesting!
πͺπFourth Wing - I heard the author was at the festival, and there was a lot of hype. I'm stoked I found a paperback copy with the dragons airbrushed on the sides. A physically brittle girl trying to join the toughest dragon riders.. I see it, I like it. It's a fun premise!
πͺπ Soul Jar - An anthology collection of fantasy and scifi stories by disabled authors. I've been told there's a lot of variety, so I'd love to see how it shapes up against Artifice & Access, another fantasy disability anthology I reviewed recently.
π‘π Plums for Months - memories of a wonder-filled neurodivergent childhood by a woman who unlike many of us, was actually diagnosed with autism very young. I'm really interested to read it!
ππβ‘οΈCemetery Boys - Yadriel wants to prove himself a real man and goes off to summon lady death.. But gets stuck with the ghost of Julian, resident bad boy, instead! LGBT+ inclusive and as part of the plot which you know I love to see.
β³πβ‘οΈππ©ΈThe Devil's Playground - pitched to me as 1920s horror/mystery/thriller. There's a terrifying silent film with a curse, but is it really? Dual protagonist, with one in the 1920s and one hunting this film in the 1960s!
I haven't made much of a dent in them, but I have thoughts!
π¨π Angelica and the Bear Prince - I actually read this one right away! An amazing LGBT+ inclusive story with a brilliant artstyle and a loveable bear. It took me on an unexpected emotional journey about life, love and grief.
hey ππ! Here's my book haul from #portlandbookfestival! I was lucky enough to get a last minute ticket, and I'm so glad I did. It was packed, but super worth it!
One of my books is a blind-date-with-a-book I picked, can you guess which one it is? I feel like its could ne really easy or super hard
Always! None Shall Sleep is one of my all time favorites, and I have read MANY books! I'm still so hype for the new book coming out! :D I think about it often.
Same! I found a couple years back that a lot of female authors get shunted to YA regardless of content... I don't know if that's still how it's done, but I've found plenty of great YA books.
They're both thrilling in their own ways! None Shall Sleep is actually a trilogy of books, a thriller/crime fiction/mystery where two teens team up with the fbi to interview young serial killers! The Spirit Bares Its Teeth is a gothic horror/thriller with ghosts and LGBT+ and autistic protags!
A. Crimin Recommends books you can't miss! "These books have stuck with me long since I finished them, an I still think about them fondly! They all have a place of honor on my bookshelf." The books are None Shall Sleep by Ellie Marney, Fantasticland by Mike Bockoven and The Spirit Bares Its Teeth by Andrew Joseph White.
A couple of my five-star favorite reads! The None Shall Sleep series by @elliemarney.bsky.social especially blew me away! Seriously, if you haven't read these, give them a shot!

Hello ππ! I'm an autistic author/book reviewer! I love fantasy, thrillers, and historical versions of both of those! I also enjoy sci-fi, horror, and historical settings! love books with Strange Happenings. Fun fact: I do often carrry around worms on a string to give away to people at events.
My halloween bookhaul from the @powells Powells After Dark event! You may have seen me as Luke Skywalker, wandering the shelves with my lightsaber. The last two are my mystery books! All in all, a good haul!

a book cover that reads "assassin's apprentice" with a picture of a castle next to it with the headline "Book Worth Reading." Quote says "I could hardly put it down, and the moment I was done, I rushed out to the bookstore to get the next two books in the series." Followed by Assassin's Apprentice and the signature of the reviewer, A. Crimin, as well as 5 stars.

a graphic with a shadowed hand ominously in the background, and the book William by Mason Coile in the center. Rated 3.5/5 stars, blurbs around the edges read: sci-fi haunted house. great Halloween read. fantastic twist. unreliable narrarator. dark, thrilling and more than a little horrifying. do you have to be human to be haunted?
It's time for some Halloween Horror!

Against a green-tinged background pic of NYC at night, the cover of Ellie Marney's new book NO ONE IS SAFE - in which a darkened figure walks toward the viewer down a teal-washed cobbled alley at night. The title/author name are above/below the image, in a popping pink gradient heavy text
