And it's deeply sad because it's not like BG3 was flawless. It was incredibly buggy on release, favors sone characters to others. Feels rushed in the third act. But do to a combo of fun characters and timing reviews and fans saw mostly the good. Only to not extend that to many other games.
I once naively assumed that BG3’s wildly positive reception (regardless of my more complicated feelings on it) would be a boon to RPG development in general.
Alas, I believe I was wrong. It created BG3 fans, not RPG fans, and game after new game is held to unfair standards. Doomed to failure. 1/4
