Thats kind of where I am too tbh. Single-fandom archives wont come back until Ao3 is lost in one way or another. (And they've made a lot of decisions I hate so I wouldn't be all that surprised if Ao3 is one day lost -- no matter how unthinkable people think that is.)

Sidenote, I did not realize what a fucking Juggernaut Rose motherfucking Tyler BY HERSELF was.

18,772 fics on Ao3. 16,665 on Teaspoon. 15,000 fics on fanfiction dot net -- sure, theres some cross posting there, but absolutely insane numbers lol

I used to assume everything would eventually funnel to Ao3, as its the biggest fic writing site. I still think that's true, but its an interesting anomaly to get more read in the single-fandom archive.

Maybe some hope for diverse archives after all?

Most popular characters: Ten remains the juggernaut, but 13, 11, 12 all do quite well compared to their teaspoon offerings.

Interesting especially to me because Teaspoon has fallen quite out of vogue for the newest seasons, which Ao3 is pretty healthy on:

I wonder if this is because I'm writing for an older doctor, so the fandom is older.

I wasn't expecting a fanfic for chars from 2012 to do gangbusters but I think its interesting I got 13 kudos (respectable) and 1 review on Ao3 and 0 reviews on the platform that doesn't let you leave kudos.

An interesting anomaly to me: writing Dr. Who fic is the first time in ages I've had a single-fandom archive I can upload fic to.

I assumed I'd get the bulk of viewers on AO3, especially since Teaspoon has not been that active for a while, but I'm actually getting read more on Teaspoon:

Zoologist - Cow

This one is weird to me. I'm almost completely anosmic to it -- I can smell a brief flash of apples for about one second on my skin, and then I can't smell the perfume at all. My SO can smell it on my skin (and the spouse's review is "pungent, floral?") but I can't lol

Rare miss.

Zoologist - Rabbit

Rabbit is pretty much the polar opposite of Koala; if Koala is an expensive spa frag, then Rabbit is Jessica Simpson's Apple Pie dessert spray. This is a gourmet's gourmand on me, caramel apple pie that's sticky-sweet.

Like, but not love. Too sweet. I am too bitter lol.

Zoologist - Koala.

Zoologist makes one of my favorite perfumes (Elephant) and this one is also a treat.

This is all eucalyptus /camphor, then fades into a soapy tea scent. It smells like a spa, an expensive one that serves you hot tea next to a waterfall.

Absolutely love it.

Ghost Ship Emporium - New Orleans Vampire.

This is a really, really close to BPAL's Tavern of Hell, just slightly less boozy. All absinthe and amber. Like most absinthes, it dries down to nothing really fast, even if I like that minty smell.

Its fine, but I'm relieved I don't love it.

DS&Durga - Burning Barbershop.

This is the one I was expecting would be an all-time winner easy-peasy. Unfortunately, it has a bit of a split personality - quite smoky at the start, and then a vanilla/lavender drydown.

I actually wish this one was more linear so I could smell both at the same time

I legit started shipping them from SFxT.

Not my fav meadow scent (grasslands, above, is winning so far), but I'm quite sad Ghost Ship Emporium has gone out of business because they're a good third of this sample pack lol.

It's hard to not trigger my "oh shoot I'll never be able to rebuy this, better preserve it forever" gremlin brain...

Ghost Scent Emporium - Summerwinds

I have wanted to try Ghost Scent Emporium for ages and they went out of business between the time I ordered these samples and when I got them. :(

This is nice. Sassafras, sage, cedar, sweetgrass, vetiver. Smoky but also...Kinda powdery? Sweet.

Hay in the fields. This picture is what this smells like to me.

Paraphrase - Grasslands

This is a solid LOVE. Lavender, Tobacco, Hay & Oakmoss.

This smells like a wide open prairie for miles & miles, blue sky in my eyes and all the hay in the fields and the flowers in the wild. An idealized version of home.

Doesn't carry super far but it doesn't have to.

I HAVE NOT EVEN HEARD OF THIS ONE.

I will add it to the next pack after I work through this one. I like the couple of the Etat's I've tried and I have "ghost in the shell" in this pack so looking forward.

I like Rose but it is a very love it/hate it note on the perfumes themselves.

Frederic Malle - Portrait of a Lady

Got this despite the clove top note because I ADORE Rose scent and I've seen, over and over,that everyone likes THIS particular Rose scent.

Unfortunately, Clove remains my nemesis and this smells like spicy Rose and ylang-ylang-scented cigarettes.

DS & Durga - Cowboy Grass

Oh, I like the masc version MUCH better than the feminine one. Vetiver and Sage, mostly. I think this one might worth buyin, I can soften it with a little vanilla musk on top.

Very antistringent and grassy, like a medicinal tonic, splashed on the face.

Ganymede Marc-Antoine Barrois

One that seems to have a very wide variety of smells to people judging by the reviews. Most mention leather or metallic notes.

Weirdly my sample is just...warm vanilla + cedar.

I like it, but I wish I got the alien spaceship vibes.

More comfy gran than the Dr.

First up - DS & Durga, Cowgirl grass.

I was hoping this would be mostly vetiver &grass, with slight hints of flowers; a prairie-girl scent.

But alas, this is a very LOUD & GIRLY cowgirl. All powdery peony and amber. Feels dated, very late 80s/early 90's. Doesn't agree with my skin/taste.

Shame.

First, a bit about my perfume taste:

- My skin tends to amp sweet smells

- Also amp Clove which unfortunately smells immediately like sugary cigs on me (RIP)

- nag champa/dragons blood? Headache inducers

- tend to prefer unisex frags

- favorite frag fam is fougeres

I'm making a threat for Perfume thoughts, mostly because I have an ungodly number of samples to wok through that I'm not proud of lol.
