1. Using natural/healthier colouring for EU and other countries with pro consumer regulations
2. Using the cheapest, even cancer inducing colouring for the US market
FDA finally banned Red Dye No 3 in food production.
It's banned in most countries, in EU since 1994 (except for specific cocktail cherry and certain PET food) because of links to cancer.
