I find it interesting that 12C Piemontèis is mostly a dialect of Occitan, & modern has a lot more Italian & French in it. My 12C ppl were massively important patrons of trobar (& also subjects of songs).

I also have bilingual Lœb ed of Julian's Complete Works, as he's another of my favourites.

School was comprehensive that had been girls' grammar school: Classics teacher was a veteran of those days. These days, I mainly keep up my French, & use bits of my Latin, Occitan & Greek when researching/writing on my pet 12C characters.

I did French & Latin O Level, & nagged the Classics teacher to put on Greek O Level: 2 of us started it, I was only one to finish (A grade). Did Latin A Level, also a bit of Italian.
Taught self to read Spanish & sing in Occitan. Learned Russian to do my PhD on Russian art.

I did O & A level Latin, & yes, it annoyed me that we didn't do any mediæval Latin, as I was going to do Mediæval History at university. (Also, I love Mediæval Latin verse & song – one of my all-time favourite books is 'The Wandering Scholars'.)
