And then he becomes exuberant again almost immeadiately. Goku: "Hey, is it okay if I use this place <to train>?" (the outside of Kami's temple, what is colloquially known as The Lookout, a giant floating platform somewhere vaguely high up in the stratosphere or mesosphere) since Popo won't let him inside and keeps telling him to politely leave.

THIS quiet moment is Goku. Both Good and Bad. He runs into a wall. He cant think a way around it, and he won't try to go thru. If he's not strong enough to climb, yet, he'll do squats. The humble acceptance is key. He's not stubbornly argumentative, but he ignores the "no Goku" entirely all the same

Much like a side comment from Roshi during the Fortune Teller Baba arc, Goku's training was always leading him to Ultra Instinct. Obviously not literally that, but the mindset. And we can see the distance mirage of "End of Z" Goku has that. He's the Master then. But as you know, GT/Daima/Super. sigh

for me it's the realization in those photos, "Wow, everyone really *is* getting older..."
